Job Type: Part-time Contract
Start Date: September 2026
Schedule: Once per week (Thursday or Friday – exact time to be confirmed)
Contract Duration: September 2026 to June 2027 (excluding school holidays)
Rate: We offer a competitive rate that reflects the tutor's experience, qualifications, and the nature of this group program
Session Length: 1 hour or 1.5 hours
Location: In-person at a private school in the Heathcote / The Blue Mountains area of Ontario (approximately 15 minutes from Meaford). Reliable transportation is required.

About This Opportunity :

Imagine teaching French through forest games, storytelling, songs, movement, and outdoor adventures instead of worksheets and traditional classrooms.

We are looking for a creative, energetic, and passionate French Language Educator to lead weekly French lessons for a small group of 16 children aged 7 to 12 at a private Forest School in the Heathcote / The Blue Mountains area.

This is far more than a traditional tutoring position. It is an opportunity to introduce French in a joyful, natural, and immersive way while inspiring children through exploration, creativity, and play in a beautiful outdoor environment.

About the School :

The school embraces a child-led Forest School philosophy, where curiosity, exploration, and hands-on experiences are at the heart of learning.

Students spend their days learning outdoors and developing confidence through meaningful experiences in nature. French lessons should naturally fit within this environment, encouraging communication through movement, play, storytelling, songs, and discovery rather than traditional classroom instruction.

Classes take place outdoors throughout every season. The school embraces all-weather learning, so educators should enjoy spending time outside year-round.

Responsibilities :

Plan and deliver engaging weekly French lessons for a group of 16 students (ages 7–12).
Teach beginner French as a Second Language (FSL) in an immersive and interactive way.
Design your own lesson plans using creative, play-based teaching strategies.
Adapt lessons to an outdoor learning environment.
Foster a positive, inclusive, and encouraging atmosphere where children feel confident using French.
Deliver lessons outdoors throughout the school year.

Qualifications and Requirements

Strong French language skills.
Experience teaching French or another language to children.
A creative and enthusiastic teaching approach.
Ability to develop engaging lessons without relying on technology or worksheets.
Comfortable teaching outdoors throughout the year in varying weather conditions.
Reliable transportation and ability to commute to a rural location near Heathcote / The Blue Mountains.
Ability to drive safely in Ontario winter conditions.
Experience in outdoor education, Forest Schools, Montessori, experiential learning, or alternative education settings is considered a strong asset.
