Under the direction of the Agronomy Division Manager, the Agronomy Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of location operations, including financial performance, workforce management, safety compliance, and asset utilization. This role drives operational efficiency through effective planning, scheduling, logistics coordination, inventory management, and product handling. The Agronomy Operations Manager ensures resources are optimized to meet customer and business needs while supporting continuous improvement initiatives and fostering strong relationships with customers, employees, and the local community.
SUPERVISION AND LEADERSHIP

Hires, supervises, leads and develops agronomy operations staff to be technically competent, industry knowledgeable, and customer focused. Encourages employees to learn new skills, expand abilities, and seek greater responsibilities. Provides support to the management team providing local information, market intelligence and competitor information.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
LOCATION MANAGEMENT & FINANCIAL OVERSIGHT

Ensure accurate inventory reporting and maintain strong inventory controls.

CUSTOMER SERVICE & SALES SUPPORT

Support the delivery of products and services to meet customer expectations.

Coordinate with sales and agronomy teams to ensure timely and efficient service delivery.

Respond to customer concerns related to orders, deliveries, and service issues.

Maintain knowledge of company products, services, and operational processes.

Build positive customer relationships through reliable service and communication.
PEOPLE LEADERSHIP & STAFF DEVELOPMENT

Lead, coach, and support operational and customer service employees.

Assist with recruiting, onboarding, training, and employee development.

Manage employee schedules and support effective teamwork across departments.
FLEET, EQUIPMENT & FACILITY MANAGEMENT

Oversee the maintenance, operation, and availability of vehicles, equipment, and facilities.

Coordinate preventive maintenance and repairs to minimize downtime and maximize asset utilization.

Operate site equipment as required, including loaders, soil samplers, fertilizer plants, and UAN facilities.

Train and mentor employees on the safe and effective operation of site equipment, facilities, and related processes.

Manage fleet scheduling to support operational efficiency and customer needs.
-
Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and transportation regulations.
-
Maintain accurate records related to driver compliance, equipment maintenance, and operational activities.

Coordinate facility maintenance and improvement projects.
LOGISTICS & INVENTORY CONTROL

Maintain inventory levels to support customer demand and operational requirements.

Oversee receiving, shipping, inventory transfers, and product movement.
-
Ensure inventory is stored, handled, and tracked accurately.
-
Coordinate delivery schedules and logistics activities.
-
Ensure fueling facilities and related equipment meet regulatory requirements.
-
Identify opportunities to improve inventory accuracy and logistics efficiency.
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS

Follow all health and safety requirements under the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA), including using required protective equipment, following safety procedures, and reporting any potential hazards.

Follow all company personnel policies, including expectations related to training, performance, and conduct.
-
Participate in required MCS training such as Ministry of Labour courses, Health & Safety Standards, Policies, and AODA accessibility training.

Work cooperatively with approved contractors and follow all related safety procedures when contractors are on site.

Maintain any required licenses, certifications, or regulatory requirements needed for your role.

Perform other assigned duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS

2-4 years of leadership and/or management experience, preferably in an agricultural or operations environment.

Post-secondary education in Agriculture, Business, Operations Management, or a related field preferred.

Knowledge of agronomy operations, logistics, inventory management, and equipment operation.
-
Experience training employees and operating site equipment considered an asset.
-
Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
-
Proficient in Microsoft Office and industry-related software.
-
Pesticide Vendor Certification considered an asset.
-
Valid Class G driver's license.
WORKING CONDITIONS
-
Primarily works in both office and outdoor environments, including yards, fields, warehouses, or vehicle settings in all weather conditions.

Moderate travel required between locations, including branch facilities, customer operations, and field sites; travel may include rural roads, winter driving, and adverse weather conditions.

Regular exposure to dust, fumes, fertilizers, chemicals, agricultural odours, and equipment noise.
-
Requires frequent sitting, standing, walking, bending, and lifting up to 25 kg.

Occasional extended hours may be required during seasonal peak periods.
