Assistant Manager – Hochelaga Inn

Pay: $22/hour
Schedule: 8-hour shifts, Saturdays & Sundays (some additional shifts scheduled as needed)
Contract: 6-month term, with the opportunity for extension

Position Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated Assistant Manager to join our team at Hochelaga Inn on a 6-month contract, with the potential for extension. This role supports the General Manager by overseeing day-to-day operations, ensuring smooth guest experiences, and leading the team to maintain our high standards of hospitality.

Key Responsibilities:

Assist the General Manager in daily operations to ensure efficiency and guest satisfaction.
Create and manage employee schedules, approve time-off requests, and ensure all shifts are covered.
Provide leadership and support to the team, stepping in to assist various departments as needed.
Train staff and ensure adherence to hotel policies and service standards.
Monitor guest feedback on platforms such as TripAdvisor, Google, and Expedia, responding professionally and addressing concerns.
Handle guest issues and complaints with professionalism, ensuring service recovery when necessary.
Support the hiring process, onboarding new team members, and assisting with performance management.
Conduct property inspections to ensure cleanliness, maintenance, and operational standards are met.
Maintain open communication with staff and assist in business planning.
Ensure compliance with all policies, procedures, and hospitality industry standards.
Be available by phone to assist staff with urgent issues when needed.
Be available for overnight guest support and phone coverage before and after scheduled shifts.

Qualifications:

Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to delegate tasks effectively.
Availability to work weekends (Saturdays & Sundays, daytime shifts preferred).
A university degree or diploma in hospitality management (an asset but not required).
2+ years of experience in the hospitality industry, with at least 1-2 years in a supervisory role preferred.
