Kingston Health Sciences Centre (KHSC) is seeking an experienced and inspiring leader to join our Critical Care Program as a Program Manager – Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
This is a unique opportunity to lead one of the most complex and high-impact clinical areas within an academic health sciences centre—where innovation, collaboration, and patient- and family-centred care are at the heart of everything we do.
Reporting to the Program Operational Director, you will provide operational and clinical leadership for ICU services. You will lead interdisciplinary teams in delivering safe, high-quality, and efficient patient care, while advancing strategic priorities across the program.

- Lead the delivery of safe, high-quality care through interdisciplinary collaboration
- Ensure patient outcomes are integrated into care planning with patients and families
- Oversee quality, safety, risk management, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Ensure compliance with regulatory, professional, and accreditation standards
- Manage daily operations, ensuring effective use of human, financial, and material resources
- Lead workforce planning, performance management, and workload prioritization
- Advance process improvements to enhance patient flow, access, and care delivery
- Monitor and report on operational, financial, and clinical performance metrics
- Provide visible, values-driven leadership aligned with KHSC’s strategic direction
- Build and sustain a collaborative, team-based care environment
- Lead program planning, goal setting, and evaluation of outcomes
- Act as a change leader, anticipating future program and system needs
- Build strong relationships with clinical teams, physicians, and hospital partners
- Champion strategic priorities with staff, patients, families, and stakeholders
- Ensure effective communication of organizational and program updates
- Support staff engagement, retention, and succession planning
- Promote ongoing professional development, mentorship, and learning
- Partner with educators and practice leaders to address program needs
- Promote a culture of safety for patients, staff, and the workplace
- Lead incident reviews, investigations, and implementation of corrective actions
- Ensure compliance with workplace policies, including conduct and safety standards
- Undergraduate degree in Nursing or Allied Health (completion within 3 years required)
- Master’s degree (Nursing, Health Administration, or related field) considered an asset
- Current registration in good standing with a recognized regulatory body
- Minimum 5 years of healthcare experience, ideally in acute care
- Leadership experience (2+ years preferred)
- Proven ability to lead teams, change initiatives, and quality improvement
- Strong clinical judgment, systems thinking, and decision-making skills
- Experience with project management and continuous quality improvement methodologies
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
- Lead within a top-tier academic health sciences centre affiliated with Queen’s University
- Work in a complex, fast-paced clinical environment that values innovation

- Make a meaningful impact on patient outcomes and system transformation
