Asbestos Abatement Worker

certifications.

Job Description: Reporting to the Environmental Services Divisional Project Manager,
you will be responsible for:

Demolition Duties:
Including, but not limited to the following:

Use of manual and/or mechanical demolition tools; Application of demolition tools to remove walls, ceilings and/or complete

structures; Remove rubble and other debris at construction sites; Clean and pile salvaged materials; Other duties as required by your Supervisor.

Abatement Duties:

Including, but not limited to the following:

Removing Asbestos/Lead/Mold from ceilings, walls, beams, boilers, and other
structures following hazardous waste handling guidelines;

Constructing containment units; Post abatement personal decontamination and hygiene following hazardous

waste handling guidelines; Other duties as required by your Supervisor.

General Duties:
Including, but not limited to the following:

Driving company vehicle; Completing daily timecard; Other duties as required by your Supervisor.

Training/Certificates Required: WHMIS Certificate; Working at Heights Certificate; Worker Health and Safety Awareness Certificate; Asbestos Abatement Worker Course (MTCU 253-W)*.

Will train if necessary

Pre-Qualification Criteria:

Valid class “G” Driver’s License with clean abstract; CPIC –With Vulnerable Sector Clearance; Basic Literacy skills – written and oral.

Requirements:

High School Diploma preferred; Willing and able to wear restrictive protective clothing including face mask; Willing and able to work in confined spaces; Willing and able to work in extreme temperatures; Willing and able to follow precise instructions in a careful, methodical and

accurate way; Willing and able to follow process and procedures; Willing and able to work in and support a team environment; Willing and able to work out of town for extended periods; Commitment to being clean shaven for safe respirator fit; Commitment to safe working practices.
