We are looking for an experienced, reliable and motivated Heavy Civil Construction Project Manager to spearhead projects from pre-construction through to final closeout.
The Project Manager will be a strategic and operational leader on the ground, directing multiple project teams, managing project budgets, and maintaining strong relationships with clients and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
- Project Execution: Lead the full lifecycle of small and large heavy civil projects, ensuring adherence to design specs, contracts, and quality standards. Utilize construction management software for project tracking, documentation, and communication. Manage contract changes and responsible for the approval of additional work and schedule changes.
- Financial Oversight: Manage detailed budgets, job costing, cash flow forecasting, and productivity tracking.
- Schedule Management: Develop, monitor, and update master construction schedules and recovery plans. Utilizes Microsoft Projects software throughout scheduling and project lifecycle.
- Contract Administration: Negotiate with stakeholders and manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, and claims.
- Safety Culture: Champion site safety by enforcing OHSA standards, permits, and company safety policies and procedures. Conduct tailgate/safety meetings, identify hazards and ensure proper use of PPE.
- Team Leadership: Mentor and provide direct support to site supervisors, project coordinators, other project managers and field teams to drive performance and accountability.
- Review drawings of all disciplines (civil, structural, architectural, landscaping, etc.), specifications, and tender documents to determine project scope and requirements.
- Participate in bid strategy meetings and value-engineering discussions.
- Participate in estimate closings and tender submissions. Actively participates in the preparation of estimates for contracts and tenders, as required. Assists with development of project execution plans, schedules, requests for information (RFIs), requests for quotation (RFQs), quotes for change orders and sub-contracts.
- Assist with finding, tracking, and preparing proposals and tenders, as required.
Qualifications
- Diploma or Degree in Civil Engineering Technology or Construction Management or industry experience in heavy civil construction.
- 3+ years of Canadian heavy civil construction project management experience preferred.
- Hands-on experience with construction management software.
- Knowledge of construction estimating techniques and tools.
- Strong leadership, detail-oriented, communication, time management and negotiation skills.
- Ability to read, interpret, and analyze construction drawings.
- Professional presence with strong client-facing skills.
- Familiarity with construction safety standards.
- Must have physical ability to use stairs, ladders, and walk over rough terrain. Willing to work on construction sites in all seasons and weather conditions.
- Valid “G” Driver’s license and ability to travel to various job locations.
- Eligible to work in Canada.
