Position Summary:
Reporting to the Supervisor of GIS, the GIS Specialist provides assistance and technical support to the ongoing development and maintenance of the Geographic Information System (GIS) used by the County, its four member townships, the public, and potential visitors and investors. The GIS Specialist will carry out the duties in alignment to the organizations mission, vision and values, and works to further its priorities.
Education and Experience:
- Post-secondary diploma in geographic information systems, cartography, geography, urban/rural planning, civil engineering, land resource science, or data processing; degree preferred
- An equivalent combination of recent relevant education and experience may be considered
- Three (3) years of relevant experience in the field
- Experience with GPS systems and the collection and downloading of data from such systems
