Eagle Press is a leading North American Press Builder with a manufacturing plant in Windsor (Canada) and a Service base in Portland Tennessee (USA) catering to sheet metal requirements of Automotive and Appliances industry (www.eaglepresses.com). Eagle Press is a part of the Isgec Group, a MNC with their products supplied to over 100 countries and catering to core engineering sector (www.isgec.com).

Eagle is recruiting for a Manual Lathe Operator with 3-5 years experience.

The lathe operator sets up and operates manual horizontal lathe to perform machining, operations, such as turning, boring, facing, and threading parts. Reads blueprints and drawings to determine machining to be done, dimensional specifications, set up and operating requirements.

Responsibilities Summary

· Loads/ mounts materials into lathe manually or using a hoist/crane;

· Selects and installs cutting tools according to set up requirements;

· Removes and replaces dull cutting tools and attaches tools and work pieces to the lathe;

· Observes numerical displays and compares with blueprint data to verify dimensional; adjustments and speeds of machining cuts;

· Inspects fabricated part to ensure conformance to specifications using micrometers and precision dial gauges;

Educational Requirements

Completion of high school;
Completion of on-the-job training;
Completion of college technical training or apprenticeship an asset;

Skill and Knowledge Requirements

Knowledge of machines and tools including their designs, uses, repair and maintenance;
Ability to analyze and interpret engineering drawings;
Ability to function effectively and productively within a team focused work group;
Speak/read/write fluently in English;
Knowledge of mathematic applications and measuring tools;
Knowledge of raw materials, productions processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods;
Attention to detail
Quality focused
Safety compliant;
Hand-arm steadiness and dexterity;
Minimum 3-5 years of experience

Working Conditions

40-60 hours per week;
Day, afternoon rotating shifts (weekend shifts as needed);
Plant environment;
May be exposed to dangerous mechanical equipment;
Exposure to loud noise and heavy lifting;
Standing for long periods of time;

Pay: From $26.00 per hour
