Nedlaw Living Walls is looking for a reliable self-starter to join our team! Reporting to the Nedlaw Living Walls Maintenance Manager, the NLW Team Member is responsible for the expert care of living walls. The key attributes one must have is an independent worker, honest and ethical, good customer service skills, loves plants and likes a physical job.
As a Maintenance Technician, you will play a hands-on role in the installation and ongoing care of living walls and green roofs. You’ll ensure that our projects thrive long after installation through expert plant care, system maintenance, and on-site problem solving. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys physical work, is detail-oriented, and takes pride in delivering excellence.
Job Requirements:
- Knowledge & Experience with hydroponic systems, and interior landscaping
- Thorough understanding of horticulture is an asset
- Comfortable working on ladders, swing-stages, boom, bosun chairs, at heights
- This role is physically demanding. Must be physically fit and able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Strict adherence to health and safety policies and procedures
- Efficiency in completing tasks & time management
- Disciplined and punctual
- Candidate must be flexible in job schedule. Shifts are Monday – Friday, with varied hours. Potential for occasional weekend work, however this is not typical.
- G License and clean driver’s abstract
- Working at Heights and WHMIS certification (provided if not obtained)
- Pest management, interior green house exterminator license would be beneficial
- Basic plumbing HVAC and mechanical knowledge an asset
- CSA approved steel toe safety boots
Key Responsibilities
Plant & System Care
- Perform trimming, pruning, cleaning, pest management, and water testing (pH,
- TDS, nutrients).
- Inspect irrigation, plumbing, lighting, and electrical components.
- Clean filters, strainers, and ensure systems operate efficiently.
Installation & Maintenance
- Assist in installing and maintaining new and old, living walls and roofs.
- Safely work at heights using ladders, scaffolding, swing stages, or bosun chairs.
- Remove and replace plants, or media as required.
- Conduct system repairs and preventative maintenance checks.
Health & Safety
- Follow all safety protocols and company procedures.
- Complete daily safety paperwork, timesheets, and maintenance reports.
- Keep worksites, shop, and vehicles clean and organized.
Professionalism
- Represent the company positively with clients, partners, and coworkers.
- Drive to job sites across the region (all weather conditions, major highways).
- Ensure workmanship meets the highest quality standards.
- Punctual and disciplined on scheduled date and time.
