Full job description

Our client, in the real estate industry, is looking for a Director of Planning & Development to join their team. If you are looking to work in a family-oriented and people-focused environment, this position is for you!

Responsibilities

Lead, mentor and support a team of planners, designers and technical professionals ;
Oversee planning and development applications including zoning amendments, official plan amendments, subdivisions and site plan approvals ;
Provide strategic guidance on land development opportunities, entitlement strategies and municipal processes ;
Coordinate internal teams and external consultants throughout the development lifecycle ;
Represent the company at municipal meetings, public consultations, networking events and industry functions ;
Build and maintain strong relationships with municipalities, stakeholders, consultants and clients ;
Contribute to business development efforts and identify new project opportunities ;
Collaborate closely with executive leadership on strategic planning and company growth ;
Review planning reports, development concepts, presentations and project documentation ;
Support budgeting discussions, project feasibility reviews and planning-related financial analysis.

Requirements

Degree in Urban Planning, Land Use Planning, Urban Design or related field ;
RPP designation required ;
Minimum 10 years of experience in planning, land development or consulting environments ;
Strong knowledge of Ontario planning legislation and municipal approval processes ;
Experience managing multidisciplinary projects and mentoring teams ;
Strong communication, presentation and relationship-building skills ;
Entrepreneurial mindset with a client-facing and collaborative approach ;
Experience with Ontario Land Tribunal (OLT) processes considered a strong asset.
