This is a temp part time/casual unionized position and will include working every other weekend
Maintenance workers are responsible for all assigned maintenance services in order to help provide a safe environment for residents, visitors, and staff. The goal is to ensure that the building, both interior and exterior, is well maintained along with making sure that all equipment is in good operating condition and meets established safety standards. The right candidate will also have an understanding of Long-Term Care facilities and be comfortable interacting with residents, staff, and family members.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Adhere to the Trinity Village Care Centre MISSION, VALUES and VISION.
- Adopt and put into action the 10 Principles of the Eden Alternative style of long-term care management and always ensuring safety for both residents and staff.
- Monitor the operation of the boiler, HVAC, domestic water systems, food refrigeration systems, along with various pumps, motors, elevators, electrical systems, fire alarm systems and emergency, generator. See that each system is functioning properly, and that preventative maintenance, routine servicing and seasonal repair and changes are carried out.
- Where applicable, plan and conduct a complete preventative maintenance system including lubrication, changing, and cleaning of filters, replacing of worn parts and supervision of outside contractors providing similar services on certain specialized equipment and systems.
- Inform manager for repair parts, supplies.
- Maintain sufficient supply of minor repair supplies and parts on hand.
- Inspect residents’ rooms frequently and complete necessary repairs.
- Review rooms that require painting and touch up, or painting in resident discharge rooms.
- Maintain lighting throughout the interior and exterior of the building.
- As needed, keep sidewalks and entrances clear of debris, snow, and ice.
- Assemble new equipment and furnishings (only Trinity owned).
- Perform all other duties as may be required by the Environmental Manager.
- Meet equipment safety regulations and maintain equipment in a good state of repair and cleanliness.
- Participate in drills and safety programs.
- Create a cooperative, pleasant working environment in relationships with residents, residents’ families, staff, support groups, Ministry Officials, etc.
Position Requirements:
- Grade 12 or equivalent required
- Understanding of general maintenance and repairs such as drywall repair, painting, basic plumbing.
- Understanding of mechanical and machine operation to aid in the interaction with tradespeople about repairs.
- Must be willing to work days, evenings, and weekends as scheduled.
- Must have a level of physical fitness suitable to perform the manual tasks of the position.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle.
- Positive work record and good attendance record is essential.
- Demonstrates a commitment to healthy work relationships through excellent communication.
Trinity Village Care Centre requires all new hires to submit a negative 2-Step TB test, mandatory proof of flu shot, and Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check prior to start date.
