We are a family near Churchill Park in Cambridge looking for a patient, warm, and reliable part-time nanny to care for our two young children: a 2-year-old son and a 3-year-old daughter who has cerebral palsy. This is a meaningful, ongoing role with a family that values consistency and genuine connection.
Our daughter is high needs and requires attentive, knowledgeable care. She uses a wheelchair, specialized seating supports, g-tube feeding, and an eye gaze device for communication. We are looking for someone who is comfortable and confident supporting children with complex physical needs, and who will engage both children with energy, creativity, and warmth.
We are ideally seeking someone interested in a long-term position, with the potential to grow with our family over multiple years.
Responsibilities:
- Pick up both children from school and daycare each weekday afternoon (family vehicle provided)
- Safely transfer and load daughter's wheelchair in and out of the vehicle
- Prepare and serve meals and snacks for both children
- Administer g-tube feedings for our daughter following family protocols
- Support and encourage use of daughter's eye gaze communication device
- Assist with positioning, transfers, and use of specialized seating supports
- Engage both children in age-appropriate play, activities, and reading
- Maintain a safe, tidy, and nurturing home environment during care hours
- Communicate daily with parents regarding children's meals, mood, and activities
Schedule:
Core hours are weekday afternoons, 2:30 to 6:30PM. We are open to expanding hours for the right candidate, including:
- Weekday mornings before school drop-off
- Later weekday evenings
- Weekend shifts
Total hours are approximately 30 per week. A flexible and collaborative approach to scheduling is important to us.
Qualifications:
- Legally entitled to work in Canada. Local applicants only. No sponsorship available.
- Clear Criminal Record Check including Vulnerable Sector Screening (must be obtained prior to start)
- 3 references required: 2 personal and 1 professional
- Reliable, warm-hearted, patient, and energetic
- Genuine interest in and understanding of children's growth and development
- Comfortable and confident working with children with physical disabilities
- Dog-friendly (we have a medium-sized cockapoo; no pet care required)
- Early Childhood Education (ECE) diploma or equivalent formal training (preferred)
- Experience caring for children with cerebral palsy or complex physical disabilities (preferred)

Pay: $30.00 per hour
