We are currently seeking an experienced Surveyor to join our team to support a major landfill construction project, along with additional heavy civil and infrastructure projects across our operations.
Position Overview
The Surveyor will play a key role in supporting field operations by providing accurate survey data, GPS machine control support, grade checking, and quantity tracking to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to specification.
This role works closely with superintendents, project managers, estimators, and field crews to ensure project requirements are clearly communicated and executed in the field.
Key Responsibilities
- Work directly with superintendents, estimators, project managers, and foremen to ensure all project requirements, timelines, and specifications are met.
- Support and maintain GPS machine control systems for graders, dozers, and skid steers.
- Prepare and upload machine control models and survey data.
- Perform survey layout and grade checking for construction activities.
- Monitor and verify project quantities using GPS and survey data.
- Prepare interim and final quantities for project reporting.
- Conduct preliminary and topographic surveys.
- Assist field staff with 3D machine control operations.
- Utilize transit levels and total stations to establish elevations and layouts.
- Perform monthly project progress tracking and reporting.
- Maintain organized survey files and project documentation.
- Troubleshoot and maintain survey and GPS equipment.
- Assist in monitoring and tracking project costs and quantities.
QualificationsEducation
- Diploma or Degree in Civil Engineering or Surveying preferred.
- C.E.T. designation considered a strong asset.
- Equivalent combination of education, training, and field experience will be considered.
Experience
- Experience in construction surveying and layout.
- Experience with GPS and Total Station survey equipment.
- Proficiency with Trimble survey equipment and machine control systems.
- Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D.
- Ability to:
- Create and manage surfaces and models
- Produce survey reports
- Conduct topographic surveys and construction layout
