Ramp barges to gulf islands, log towing, vessel assists, drill support, marine construction, spud and crane barges, mill maintance and every thing inbetween.

The Deckhand will be responsible for assisting with vessel operations, maintenance, and safety procedures. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work on the water, supporting the crew in ensuring smooth and efficient vessel performance. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical knowledge, rigging skills, abilities to contribute to a safe and positive onboard environment.
normal hours of operations is 90% of the time you'll be mon-fri 8-16:30 located in Ladysmith BC. Offering tows up and down the coast that can be a couple day round trips. aswell of the option for overtime and weekend work. We have the odd job that consist of working away for weeks at a time.
Responsibilities
- Assist with rigging and securing cargo or equipment on vessels
- Perform routine maintenance and inspections of deck machinery and safety equipment
- Support the crew in docking, undocking, and maneuvering the vessel
- Handle lines, fenders, and other docking gear during port operations
- Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the deck area
- Respond promptly to safety alerts or emergencies onboard
- Provide excellent customer service to clients or visitors when applicable
- Support crew members in various operational tasks as needed
Skills
- Knowledge of rigging techniques and safety procedures
- Mechanical knowledge related to vessel equipment and systems
- Strong physical fitness with the ability to perform manual tasks in a marine environment
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team in dynamic conditions
- Good communication skills and attention to detail
- Willingness to learn new skills and adhere to safety protocols
Pay: $28.00-$34.00 per hour
