Since 1962, Medical Laboratories of Windsor (MLW) provides diagnostic testing, interpretative, and advisory services, designed to meet the needs of patients and clinical personnel responsible for their care. MLW has a full service laboratory providing testing in Chemistry, Hematology, Microbiology, Histology and Cytology. MLW has 7 Specimen Collection Centres, a Home Lab Service, a Courier System, Billing Department and Client Services Department to assist daily operations. MLW adheres to IQMH guidelines and is ISO 15189 PLUS Accredited.

We are seeking a dedicated Phlebotomist and Laboratory Assistant for a part-time position at one of our 7 Windsor-Essex county locations. This role is vital in ensuring high-quality patient care and accurate laboratory results, contributing directly to our company's mission of healthcare excellence.

Responsibilities
- Collect various samples from patients (ex: blood, urine, EKG, etc.) following proper procedures.
- Prepare and process laboratory specimens accurately.
- Assist with laboratory testing and maintenance of equipment.
- Provide compassionate patient care and support in a team-focused environment.
- Precise data entry and other clerical/administrative tasks.
- Maintain strict adherence to safety and hygiene standards.
- Document procedures and results meticulously.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure seamless service.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in a hospital or laboratory is an asset. Recent educational experience is open for consideration.
- Strong skills in phlebotomy and patient care.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, understanding requisitions, and industry standards.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Certification in phlebotomy is preferred but not mandatory.
- Candidate should be available to work minimum 4 days per week, which can include day shift, night shift, weekends and statutory holidays. Hours of work can vary as service hours range from 7:00am-6:00pm EST, 7 days a week, depending on site location.
- Hourly wage range for this role is $18.10-$24.00/hour based on previous experience.
