Canadian Blood Services is looking for a Regular full-time Donor Centre Manager to join our dynamic Collections Operations West team.
The Collections Team is responsible for supporting Canadian Blood Services collecting donor blood in a safe manner to enable safe products which save lives every day. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the efficient and effective operation of a designated donor centre(s) and events, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and organizational policies. You will focus on delivering exceptional donor experience, meeting operational and financial targets, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement and collaboration within the team. You will also provide leadership and direction in the delivery of day-to-day operations, ensuring smooth functioning and alignment with organization objectives.

Leveraging your operational management skills, you will oversee all aspects of donor centre operations including but not limited to ensuring regulatory compliance, efficient workflows, managing staff, productivity, quality and safety while continuously seeking improvements.

Utilizing your resource management skills, you will ensure adequate staffing, supplies, and equipment to meet collection goals, manage staff (recruiting, mentoring, and development), handle budget planning and oversight, and collaborate with other teams on scheduling for maximum efficiency.

Drawing from your customer service experience, you will improve the donation experience to build donor loyalty. This involves tracking key metrics (donation time, satisfaction, feedback, deferrals) and implementing improvements, ensuring timely donor communication, and fostering a culture of excellent donor care.

Using your strong leadership skills, you will create a positive and inclusive work environment that fosters open communication, respect, and teamwork. You will also motivate and support staff development, communicate regularly with teams and leadership, coach and mentor direct reports, and collaborate with other managers to develop annual collection plans.

Applying your collaborative skills, you will liaise with the Quality Assurance department to promote and implement a continuous quality improvement cycle. This includes overseeing non-conformance management, root cause analysis, corrective actions, and participation in audits, including development of improvement plans and communication with the team.

Completion of a university degree in a relevant health care or business-related discipline.

Minimum five (5) years of recent experience in related supervisory/management/leadership role.

Demonstrated expertise in customer service and operational management.

Strong leadership, communication and team building skills.

Proven analytical and decision making skills.

Financial acumen with experience in budgeting and variance analysis.

Experience working in a unionized and regulated environment considered an asset.

An equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered.

Primarily an on-site role based at Canadian Blood Services donor centre located at 3735 Mayor Magrath Dr S, Unit 10, Lethbridge, Alberta.

Frequent use of communication devices and occasional on-call responsibilities.

Travel requirements - possess a valid driver's license with the ability to travel to attend regional and national meetings.

Physical requirements - ability to lift weight up to 10 kg (22 lbs.).
