Full job description

Augury Healthcare is seeking a Psychologist or Psychological Associate to provide psychological services within a women’s correctional facility in Kitchener, Ontario. This role supports a high-needs, forensic population requiring comprehensive assessment, treatment, and ongoing risk management in a secure setting.

Compensation

$160 to $200 per hour, based on experience, qualifications, and correctional mental health expertise. Higher rates may be considered for highly experienced forensic or correctional psychologists

Key Responsibilities

Conduct psychological assessments and provide evidence-based therapeutic interventions
Develop and implement behaviour management strategies
Assess, monitor, and document mental health status, including suicide risk assessments
Provide recommendations regarding at-risk status and clinical interventions
Consult with the interdisciplinary Health Care Team on behavioural and psychological concerns
Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential clinical documentation
Contribute to a safe, structured, and trauma-informed care environment

Work Environment

This role is based within a women’s correctional facility, offering a unique and highly structured clinical environment. The psychologist will work as part of an interdisciplinary health care team supporting individuals with complex mental health, trauma histories, and behavioural challenges.

The setting is:

Secure and highly structured, with clear clinical protocols and safety procedures
Fast-paced, requiring strong clinical judgement and the ability to manage competing priorities
Collaborative, involving close work with nursing staff, physicians, and correctional personnel
Trauma-informed, with an emphasis on safety, stabilization, and rehabilitation
Impactful, providing essential mental health care to an underserved and high-need population

Qualifications

Master’s or Doctoral degree in Psychology
Registration in good standing with the College of Psychologists of Ontario as a Psychologist or Psychological Associate (or eligibility)
Experience in correctional, forensic, or high-risk clinical settings strongly preferred
Strong skills in risk assessment, crisis intervention, and behavioural management
Excellent communication and interdisciplinary collaboration skills
