Position Overview
The Accounts Payable Specialist will have a focus on Accounts Payable transactions to support the organization’s business objective. This role will process business transactions mainly in accounts payable. It may be required to support other finance areas as needed. It is essential for this role to provide superior customer service to internal and external customers and ensuring all invoices are processed accurately.
Key Responsibilities:
These duties are not meant to be all-inclusive, and other duties may be assigned.
· Review all invoices for appropriate documentation and approval prior to payment
· Process 3-way purchase order to invoice matching
· Prioritize invoices according to cash discount potential and payment terms
· Prepare vendor payments within given availability guidelines
· Distribute cheques once printed
· Set up new supplier accounts according to established company policies and maintain accurate vendor records
· Various reception and administrative duties including answering incoming calls, distributing incoming office mail and greeting and signing in visitors
· Verify vendor accounts by reconciling monthly statements and related transactions
· Communicate with suppliers on payments, supplier queries and complaints; escalate issues to management as required
· Work with vendor, purchasing and receiving to improve processing and solve vendor or invoice problems
· Completing payments and controlling expenses by receiving, processing, verifying and reconciling invoices.
· Ensuring outstanding balances are updated with credit memos that are due.
· Maintaining historical records of all invoices, reports, receipts, and cheques by saving documents properly on network.
· Assisting other finance specialists as needed.
Qualifications
· Bachelor’s Degree or diploma in accounting or related field.
· 2 Years’ experience in related field.
· Knowledge of business finance including accounting principles and practices.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
· Strong attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications:
· Knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
· Knowledge of JD Edwards software and Intellichief
· Knowledge of manufacturing industry.
· Ability to manage multiple projects, or assignments at one time.
· Ability to meet tight deadlines while maintain compliance and regulatory standards
