The Event Services Staff team plays a key role in supporting events across Western Fair District facilities. From trade shows and community events to signature experiences like the Annual Western Fair, you will assist with event setup, operations, facility maintenance, and guest support to help deliver safe, clean, and successful events for our clients and guests.
What You’ll Do
- Support the setup, operation, and tear down of events across Western Fair District facilities.
- Serve as the Event Services point of contact for promoters, tenants, suppliers, and WFD-operated events when the Event Operations Manager is not on site.
- Maintain clean, safe, and welcoming event spaces by performing duties such as sweeping, mopping, washroom cleaning, dusting, and operating floor cleaning equipment.
- Assist in maintaining the outdoor appearance of facilities, including snow removal, garbage collection, and dump bin changes.
- Complete Caretaker Logbooks and other required documentation accurately and on time.
- Assist with minor maintenance projects including painting, lighting replacements, and ceiling tile repairs.
- Identify and report major repair or maintenance concerns to the Operations Manager.
- Deliver excellent customer service while supporting guests, clients, and event partners.
- Work collaboratively with team members to ensure successful event execution and facility operations.
- Represent Western Fair District in a professional and positive manner at all times.
- Follow all workplace health and safety policies, procedures, and operational guidelines.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the overall success of Western Fair District events and operations.

Ideally, you have:
- Secondary School Education.
- Minimum of 1–6 months of related experience.
- Strong customer service and problem-solving skills.
- Good communication skills.
- Ability to obtain WFD Forklift and Aerial Lift Device certification considered an asset.
- Previous forklift and aerial lift training/operation considered an asset.
- Experience in the show or event industry considered an asset.
- Professionalism, interpersonal skills, and the ability to build positive relationships.
- A proactive and adaptable approach in a fast-paced environment.
- A background in hospitality or event support is considered beneficial for understanding guest needs and venue operations.
- The ability to work effectively in a team environment while maintaining a professional and positive attitude.
Working Conditions
- Work is performed while standing, sitting, or walking.
- Continuous bending, squatting, crawling, climbing, and reaching.
- Regular lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling of weights up to 50 lbs.
- Exposure to moving machinery, changing temperatures and humidity, dust, dirt, and animals.
- Shifts may include days, afternoons, overnights, weekends, and holidays.

Additional Information
This is a part-time role. Because we produce live events and community experiences, flexibility is essential. Evening, overnight, weekend, and holiday shifts may be required, particularly during major events such as the Annual Western Fair.
