About Us

The Faculty of Health Sciences is a large, diverse, and comprehensive unit, comprised of seven Schools (Nursing, Kinesiology, Health Studies, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Communication Sciences and Disorders and Food and Nutritional Sciences), a large Interdisciplinary Graduate Program in Health and Rehabilitation Sciences and four Research Centers. The faculty has more than 4,000 undergraduate students and more than 900 graduate students (200 PhD students).

Mission: The Arthur Labatt Family School of Nursing generates knowledge and prepares nurses to be transformative leaders and innovators through equity-promoting research, education, and practice, locally and globally.

Course Information

Students participate in lab sessions with a lab instructor focused on the basic care and safety needs of residents in long-term care. Activities include bedmaking, bathing, mouthcare, mobility, feeding, supportive care, incontinence care, therapeutic communication, respect, dignity, and interpersonal connection.

Fridays - 4 hour sessions

Responsibilities

You will be responsible for all activities associated with the successful delivery of the course, including but not limited to: developing, preparing, and delivering the course; setting and marking examinations, assessing the academic work of students, and reporting grades.

Candidates must be willing to undertake training as required by the Employer including, but not limited to, training in respect of health and safety, harassment and discrimination, and legislated service standards.

Qualifications

Applicants must hold a minimum of a BSCN degree in Nursing- MScN, MPH or related degree preferred.

A current, unrestricted registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) is required.

Applicants must demonstrate recent and relevant Registered Nurse clinical practice experience that aligns directly with the subject matter of the course.

Particular consideration will be given to candidates whose clinical, regulatory, or professional expertise reflects specialized practice areas required for the delivery of course content and is not otherwise readily available within the unit.

Evidence of effective and successful teaching performance at the post-secondary level, appropriate to the course mode of instruction (e.g., in-person, clinical, simulation, or online), is considered a significant asset.

Evidence may include, but is not limited to, teaching evaluations, peer or supervisory assessments, teaching dossiers, curriculum development, or other indicators of learner achievement and instructional effectiveness.

Applicants should demonstrate recognized expertise or specialization in the relevant subject area, supported by academic preparation, professional nursing practice, and/or notable professional achievements aligned with the learning objectives of the course.
