We are seeking a motivated, adaptable, and energetic individual who enjoys working with seniors in a community environment and demonstrates strong program planning and community engagement skills.
POSITION SUMMARY: LUSO Community Services is seeking a compassionate, enthusiastic, and community-minded Part-Time Seniors Program Assistant to support the development, planning, and delivery of engaging seniors' programming in Northeast London and Argyle neighbourhoods. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys building meaningful relationships with older adults and is passionate about promoting healthy aging, social inclusion, and community connection.
HOURS: Approximately 8–10 hours per week, generally day time hours but some flexibility needed for early evening for programming if needed (flexible; schedule to be determined). This is a contract position starting first week of October until March 31, 2027.
REPORTING: The Seniors Program Assistant will report to the Manager of Family Centre Argyle
WORK LOCATION: Family Centre Argyle with programming sites in Northeast London and Argyle neighbourhoods
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Plan, organize, facilitate, and evaluate community-based programs and activities for older adults.
- Foster meaningful engagement by building positive relationships with seniors through conversation, active listening, community referrals, and system navigation support.
- Develop and deliver programming that promotes health, wellness, social connection, lifelong learning, and overall well-being.
- Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with participants, colleagues, volunteers, and community partners.
- Maintain accurate attendance records, participant feedback, and program impact data.
- Monitor program supplies and report inventory needs to the Family Centre Manager.
- Ensure all participants are welcomed into a culturally safe, inclusive, and respectful environment.
- Assist with other program-related duties as assigned by the Family Centre Manager.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Passion for working with older adults and supporting healthy, connected communities.
- Experience planning and facilitating community-based programs.
- Knowledge of local community services, supports, and resources.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, communication, and written communication skills.
- Self-motivated, dependable, creative, and able to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Punctual, responsive, and committed to providing high-quality service.
- Proficiency with Microsoft office, email,
- Ability to operate in accordance with the policies, procedures, guidelines, and values of LUSO Community Services.
- Clearance through a Vulnerable populations police screening process. Must have before commencing employment
- Must have valid driver's license and reliable access to a vehicle are required, as programming is delivered at multiple community locations throughout Northeast London and the Argyle neighbourhoods.
Wage Range: $23.00-$24.00 per hour
