Harrison Pensa is actively recruiting a Legal Assistant in our Estates Litigation Department. This department advocates for clients in all types of estate and related disputes including Will Challenges, Power of Attorney Litigation and Administrative Disputes. We are looking for a self-driven individual who has a high attention to detail that will be successful in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Support reporting lawyers with assembling and organizing client case information;
- Prepare necessary court forms and filing;
- Draft correspondence pertaining to estate litigation matters;
- Ensure accurate legal documents are prepared within timelines set by the lawyer(s) or applicable court dates;
- Communicate with clients and other external parties, both over the phone and in person, regarding initial intake or ongoing file management;
- Proofread/edit documents;
- Arrange for service and filing of court documents;
- Liaise with court staff to set motion dates, court appointments, etc.;
- Assist other lawyers and staff within the practice group when necessary;
- Other duties as required.
The successful candidate ideally has the following qualifications:
- Post secondary Law Clerk Diploma or related discipline;
- 2 to 4 years previous Wills & Estates and/or Litigation Legal Assistant/Law Clerk experience preferred;
- Highly organized with attention to detail and able to prioritize workloads;
- Time management skills to succeed in fast paced practice;
- Professional attitude, courteous and client focused;
- Ability to work as a team player as well as independently;
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications and Legal Industry software.
We offer a salary commensurate with experience and a collegial environment.
The expected compensation range for this role is between $52,000 and $58,000.
