The role you’ll play
As the Research Institute Administrator, you will play a central role in supporting the operational and strategic success of the Western Institute for Neuroscience. Working closely with the Institute Director, Executive Committee, and Western Research colleagues, you will coordinate the day-to-day administration of a growing research environment while also advancing initiatives that strengthen research collaboration, engagement, and impact.
You will act as a key connector within the Institute - supporting researchers, trainees, staff, and external partners while helping to move research initiatives and strategic priorities forward. Your work will help create the conditions that enable innovative neuroscience research to thrive.
In this role, you will coordinate a broad range of administrative, financial, human resources, communications, and operational activities that support the Institute’s mission and long-term objectives. You will help facilitate collaboration opportunities across disciplines and institutions, support grant-related coordination activities, contribute to fundraising and partnership initiatives, and facilitate the planning and implementation of events, workshops, and research engagement activities that raise the profile of the Institute and its members.

You are a highly organized, detail oriented, and relationship-focused professional who thrives in complex, collaborative environments. You enjoy supporting meaningful work behind the scenes while helping teams and initiatives move forward effectively and efficiently.
You bring an Undergraduate Degree in Business Administration, Management and Organizational Studies, or a related field, along with several years of progressive administrative experience supporting operations, finance, and human resources functions in a complex organization. Experience within a research, academic, healthcare, or innovation-focused environment will be highly valued.
You have a strong understanding of administrative operations and enjoy coordinating multiple priorities, projects, and stakeholder relationships simultaneously. Your experience may include supporting research teams or institutes, coordinating grant-related activities, preparing financial reports and budget tracking, organizing events and committees, and supporting strategic initiatives in collaborative environments.
You are an effective communicator who can build strong relationships with diverse groups of stakeholders - from faculty researchers and trainees to external partners and community collaborators. You are comfortable working independently, exercising sound judgment, and managing sensitive and confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
Experience supporting research administration, interdisciplinary initiatives, communications, fundraising coordination, or stakeholder engagement activities would be considered strong assets.

Salary Grade 13. The base salary will be $62,480 - $89,040 per annum. Starting salary will be aligned with the successful candidate’s experience, skills, and demonstrated qualifications.
