Job Title: Cost Accountant

Our client in Southwest Region, ON is actively looking for a Cost Accountant to join their team.

Key Responsibilities:
Prepare, review, and analyze daily, weekly, and monthly production and cost reports in accordance with Plant Management requirements, company policy, and GAAP, including costing, inventory, yields, utilities, scrap/waste, and labor efficiency.
Support Daily Direction Setting (DDS) meetings by providing up to date yield and labor reports to enable timely corrective actions by operations.
Analyze variances between actual and standard costs, including raw materials, finished goods, PPV, and inventory, and assess their financial impact on plant performance.
Maintain and update standard cost models (MCM) for raw materials, labor, and overhead using BOMs, routings, and actual performance data.
Partner with plant management on departmental initiatives by delivering ongoing financial analysis and identifying cost reduction and efficiency improvement opportunities.
Conduct product cost audits to ensure accuracy and alignment with production processes.
Coordinate and reconcile month end physical inventory counts, ensuring timely receipt of production inputs and accurate finished goods inventory balances.
Provide backup support and vacation relief to the finance team and contribute to ad hoc financial and operational projects.
Ensure compliance with corporate internal reporting standards and act as the primary financial reporting and communication contact for the plant.
Requirements:
Diploma or degree in Accounting or Finance with demonstrated account reconciliation experience.
Minimum 3 years of cost accounting experience in an integrated manufacturing environment.
Actively pursuing a CPA designation.
Strong working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate across multiple departments.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including PivotTables and linked workbooks; strong overall MS Office skills.
Experience with ERP systems and financial/operational database applications.
