Classification & Regular Hours

Hours per Week: 35

Salary Grade: 13

The base salary will be $63,730 - $90,820 per annum. Starting salary will be aligned with the successful candidate’s experience, skills, and demonstrated qualifications.

Please note, this is a 2-year temporary full-time contract opportunity. This contract includes a comprehensive benefits package.

About Us

The Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry provides outstanding education within a research intensive, distributed learning environment, where tomorrow’s physicians, dentists and health researchers and other scholars learn to be socially responsible leaders in the advancement of human health. The Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry is the largest Faculty on campus and employs over 2,000 part-time and full-time faculty and over 1,200 staff.

Responsibilities

The Research Program Coordinator supports the design, coordination, and operationalization of Schulich’s strategic research initiatives, with a primary focus on enhancing the development, effectiveness, and visibility of its research centres and research groups. This role provides centralized support to streamline planning, communications, and cross-centre collaboration, including the coordination of communities of practice, facilitation of team-based grant applications, and delivery of researcher-focused events that foster increased research productivity. Working closely with Centre Directors, the Assistant Dean, and the Director of Schulich Research Operations, the Coordinator leads project management efforts to improve communication strategies, connect researchers with institutional supports, and identify avenues for impactful deliverables.

Qualifications

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Health Sciences, Education, Public Administration, Business, or relevant discipline
Master’s degree in Health Administration, Education, or Research Management or relevant discipline would be an asset

Experience:

3 years of experience in research coordination, academic program support, or strategic project management within a university, healthcare, or research setting
Demonstrated experience facilitating collaborative initiatives, coordinating grant development, and supporting interdisciplinary teams
Experience organizing workshops, planning sessions, or academic events with multiple stakeholders

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Familiarity with techniques for planning, managing and coordinating multiple projects, with competing priorities that involve a variety of stakeholders
Familiarity with regulations and guidelines governing research in an academic environment
Knowledge of research funding processes, grant writing, and institutional research support services
Familiarity with University research policies and practices would be an asset
Project management skills to manage multiple projects simultaneously from conception to completion within tightly prescribed timelines, including planning, execution, and reporting
Ability to plan and manage events of various sizes; familiarity with large scale events an asset
Communication skills with the ability to converse with, write reports for, and deliver presentations to all levels of the organization
Ability to collaborate across internal and external boundaries to meet common objectives, improve outcomes and support work beyond one's own unit
Proven ability to build relationships and work collaboratively with faculty, researchers, and institutional partners
High level of organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
Ability to write clear, concise and accurate procedural documentation
Ability to ensure confidentiality and privacy is maintained through the appropriate retention and destruction of information
Ability and willingness to employ a consultative and collaborative approach to addressing issues and making decisions
Attention to detail and proofreading abilities with an excellent command of the English language
Ability to display a blend of diplomacy and persistency to achieve goals while working collaboratively
Ability to work within a flexible schedule to accommodate the University’s events and activities
Intermediate computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite
