Mustangs Sports is part of Sports & Recreation and the larger division of Student Experience at Western. Sport builds on a rich athletic tradition of excellence and a commitment to providing a supportive high-performance environment for student-athletes.
The Mustangs Sports Program is responsible for the development, implementation, assessment and management of varsity sport, team and student athlete specific programs for 46 Mustangs teams. Additionally, Mustangs Sports provides student-athlete supports, resources and leadership; coaching support, education and development; alumni engagement and partnership development.
Responsibilities
Mustangs Sports oversees and is accountable for the varsity and sport club sport programs, helping the University continue to meet the evolving needs of the student athlete experience. The Assistant Coach, under the direction of the Head Coach and Sports & Recreation Leadership, is responsible for supporting strengthening programming to provide a supportive high-performance environment for student athletes and focus on safe sport and the specific needs of student athletes.
Qualifications
The successful candidates will have previous experience coaching and leading sport programs in a high standard of academic and sport performance environment.
CPR Certification & First Aid Training is an asset.

- Familiarity with Campus Recreation’s programs, services, and facilities preferred
- Ability to work within a flexible schedule to accommodate the events with the consistent ability to work assigned shifts is paramount
Coaches Education & Certification
Coaches will be required to complete SafeSport, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI), and Gender-Based Violence Prevention (GBVP) training modules on an annual basis. Completion of all assigned modules are mandatory and reflects our commitment to fostering a safe, respectful, and inclusive sport environment for all participants.
Background Checks
