Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Drywall Taper to join our construction team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for applying joint compound to drywall seams and finishing surfaces to ensure a smooth, professional appearance. This role requires attention to detail, craftsmanship, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Prior construction experience and familiarity with various finishing techniques are highly valued. The Drywall Taper plays a vital role in delivering high-quality results on residential and commercial projects.

Duties

Apply joint compound (mud) to drywall seams, screw heads, and surface imperfections using taping knives and other tools
Sand and smooth finished surfaces to prepare for painting or further finishing
Install corner beads and other finishing accessories as needed
Read and interpret blueprints and project specifications to ensure accurate application of materials
Perform caulking around joints, corners, and trim for a seamless finish
Assist with related carpentry tasks such as installing drywall panels or framing when required
Maintain a clean work area, ensuring safety protocols are followed at all times
Collaborate with team members to meet project deadlines and quality standards

Skills

Proven experience in drywall taping, finishing, or related construction roles
Knowledge of construction painting, carpentry, caulking, and handyman skills is a plus
Ability to read blueprints and technical drawings accurately
Strong attention to detail and craftsmanship in surface finishing
Good hand-eye coordination and proficiency with hand tools such as taping knives, sanders, and drills
Ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team
Physical stamina to stand for extended periods, lift materials up to 50 pounds, and perform repetitive motions
