Nurse Practitioner – Dermatology & Skin Cancer Clinic

About Us
We are a growing dermatology and skin cancer clinic dedicated to providing exceptional patient care through early detection, prevention, and treatment of skin conditions and skin cancers. We are seeking an experienced and motivated Nurse Practitioner to join our team and help deliver high-quality dermatologic care in a collaborative, patient-focused environment.
Position Overview
The successful candidate will provide comprehensive dermatologic assessments, perform full-body skin examinations, utilize dermoscopy for lesion evaluation, diagnose and manage common skin conditions, and perform a variety of minor surgical and procedural treatments. This role is ideal for an NP with a strong interest in dermatology, skin cancer detection, and procedural medicine.
Responsibilities Clinical Care
- Perform comprehensive skin assessments and full-body skin cancer screenings.
- Evaluate pigmented and non-pigmented lesions using dermoscopy.
- Diagnose and manage common dermatologic conditions including acne, eczema, psoriasis, rosacea, skin infections, fungal conditions, and other skin disorders.
- Develop treatment plans and provide follow-up care.
Skin Cancer Detection & Management
- Identify suspicious lesions and skin cancers, including melanoma, basal cell carcinoma, and squamous cell carcinoma.
- Coordinate investigations, referrals, and ongoing surveillance for high-risk patients.
- Counsel patients regarding skin cancer prevention and sun safety.
Procedures
The ideal candidate should be comfortable performing:
- Shave biopsies
- Punch biopsies
- Excisional biopsies
- Cryotherapy
- Electrocautery
- Curettage
- Cyst excisions
- Lipoma removals
- Intralesional steroid injections
- Keloid treatment
- Incision and drainage procedures
- Suture placement and removal
- Wound care management
Documentation & Collaboration
- Maintain accurate and timely EMR documentation.
- Collaborate closely with physicians and clinic staff to ensure continuity of care.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and clinical best practices.
QualificationsRequired
- Current Nurse Practitioner licensure in Ontario and registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO).
- Authorization to diagnose, prescribe, and perform procedures within scope of practice.
- Minimum 2 years of clinical experience as a Nurse Practitioner.
- Excellent communication and patient education skills.
- Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic abilities.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
Preferred
- Dermatology, skin cancer, or procedural medicine experience.
- Formal training or certification in dermoscopy.
- Experience performing skin biopsies and minor surgical procedures.
- Experience in dermatology, plastic surgery, family medicine, urgent care, or skin cancer clinics.
- Experience with cosmetic dermatology procedures is considered an asset.
