The Organization: Shalom Manor & Gardens is a faith-based, non-profit organization that is home to 144 residents living in long-term care (Shalom Manor) and 36 assisted living suites (Shalom Gardens). Our vision is to provide a Christ-centered journey in a loving community.
Shalom Manor was founded in the 1970s and has faithfully served seniors within the Dutch Reformed Christian community since. Recognizing the need for expanded services in the province, we are currently building a second site in Hamilton, Ontario – Faithstone Manor & Gardens – with an expected opening in Spring/Summer 2027.

Reporting to the Administrator and working closely with an experienced leadership team, you will lead a nursing department of more than 200 team members, supported by the Associate Director of Resident Care. This position requires full-time hours, plus rotational on-call requirements.
As the DRC, you will:
- Lead the delivery of exceptional resident-centred care.
- Oversee the development, implementation, and evaluation of individualized care plans and nursing programs, ensuring care is evidence-informed, responsive, and aligned with best practices.
- Guide and develop a large nursing team.
- Provide leadership, coaching, performance management, and mentorship to over 200 nursing staff, fostering accountability, collaboration, and professional growth.
- Drive quality, compliance, and operational excellence.
- Ensure nursing services meet legislative and regulatory requirements, support quality improvement initiatives, manage core regulatory programs, and promote accurate clinical and interRAI LTCF documentation.
- Lead and support strategic and organizational goals.
- Contribute to and lead strategic and operational planning, department goal setting, resource stewardship, and the implementation of new programs and services that enhance resident outcomes.
- Strengthen communication and engagement.
- Foster effective communication with staff, residents, families, physicians, committees, and community partners, creating a collaborative and solution-focused care environment
Who You Are:
You bring:
- Current registration as an RN in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
- Post-RN education in nursing administration, gerontology, healthcare management or a related field considered an asset
- 4-6 years of experience in long-term care, with a strong understanding of the unique opportunities and challenges of the sector
- Progressive leadership experience, including supervising, coaching and developing high-performing teams
- Strong clinical knowledge and assessment skills, with experience supporting evidence-informed care practices and quality outcomes
- Confidence and experience using clinical documentation systems and other technologies required to support resident care and operational excellence
- A thorough understanding of the legislative and regulatory requirements governing long-term care in Ontario and the ability to effectively lead within this framework
- Excellent communication, organizational and relationship-building skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with residents, families, team members, physicians and community partners
- An appreciation for and willingness to support the Christian mission, vision and values that guide our organization
- Ability to provide a vulnerable sector police check within the last 6 months, and proof of TB testing completed within the last 12 months
- Ability to speak Dutch is considered an asset.
