Food Service Workers - Casual & Part-Time Openings Start date: ASAP
Hours of operation- 5:30 am- 6:45 pm (8-12 hour shifts)
Food service experience in health care an asset
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required
- Minimum 1 year food service experience, health care setting preferred
- Ability to provide a clear Criminal Record & Vulnerable Sector Check
- WHMIS certificate, or willingness to obtain within 6 months of hire date
- Basic Food Safety Certificate, or willingness to obtain within 6 months of hire date
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment
- Ability to lift 20 pounds
- Ability to stand for 8 hours a day
- Excellent decision-making ability and problem solving
- Friendly, outgoing and customer service oriented with excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
- Team player that works productively with others
Duties Include but are not limited to:
· Sets tables/trays and delivers and serves food to residents specified ensuring proper food items as required by diet.
· Delivers food cart and/or tray carts to required areas.
· Serves meals to guests when required.
· Pours required beverages for meals.
· Dishes up desserts as required for meals.
· Prepares raw vegetables as required by the daily work sheet.
· Clears tables and trays, scrapes, washes dishes, operates dishwasher; stacks and puts away clean dishes in proper areas. Properly cleans and sanitizes dishwasher at end of each shift.
· Sweeps, mops, cleans and sanitizes assigned areas in the department as specified including sinks, shelves, walls, floors, carts and trolleys. Ensures work area is tidy and orderly.
· Operates, cleans, and maintains all equipment required for use by the food service worker used in the department. Reports any maintenance required on any equipment or any area of the department to the Directors, Food Service Manager, Maintenance Manager or in their absence to the cook on duty.
· May be required to prepare certain food items, maintaining standards of portion control and sanitation.
· Replenishes kitchenettes with nourishments and supplies for residents.
· Replenishes all supplies as required to complete the tasks of the food service worker.
· Washes and de-stains dishes, utensils and small wares as specified.
· Removes tablecloths after meals and delivers to laundry or as specified.
· Receives training on the proper operation and cleaning of equipment used.
· Trains new employees. Training includes proper operation and cleaning of equipment used.
· Assists other co-workers as required: responsible for receiving freight if cook is unable to perform this task, ensuring all items listed on the invoice are delivered and are in acceptable condition. Unpacks and stores freight items on shelves in fridges, freezers, storeroom following FIFO standard.
· Disposes of garbage, compost, and recyclables as required.
