Power Line Technician Program

Position Overview:

We are seeking candidates interested in training for a career as a Power Line Technician. All training is fully paid.

The Power Line Technician Training Program is a four-year fully paid apprenticeship program that includes on the job training and
ten weeks of competency-based trade schools that will lead to Journeyperson Technician status. During your paid training, you will
be stationed at various locations throughout the province.

Responsibilities:

Power Line Technicians construct, maintain, and repair electrical power transmission and distribution systems:

Build and maintain wood poles and steel structures, operate switches, transformers, and associated electrical equipment.
Install pad mounted equipment, underground high voltage and low voltage power cables.
Splice and terminate high voltage power cables.
Connect and maintain overhead and underground transformers, distribution centres and locate underground power cables.

Trainees must demonstrate a strong commitment to maintaining a safe working environment and are expected to follow all
safety protocols and Safe Work Procedures.

Qualifications:

Be a high school graduate with:

Mathematics 40S (Applied or Pre-Calculus) and English 40;

Completion of Level 1 Electrical (Construction or Industrial) through an Apprenticeship Manitoba accredited program.
Possess a valid Class 5 Manitoba Driver's Licence (intermediate or full) and be eligible for upgrade.
Willing to work in all types of weather.
Willing to work at heights, in trenches, excavations and confined spaces.
Capable of learning proper climbing techniques.
Maintain a level of physical fitness and mental alertness appropriate for the duties you are performing.
Mechanical aptitude.
Physical coordination and manual dexterity.
Ability to lift heavy objects from a variety of physical positions.

orientation session, which provides candidates with the opportunity to demonstrate job-related skills such as following instructions,
handling tools, measuring and cutting, and following blueprints; a job-related physical assessment will also be conducted. To help

provide a current driver's abstract.

Salary Range

Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The range for the classification is $25.65-$35.47 Hourly,
$49,151.18-$67,969.46 Annually.

Following successful completion of the training program, the journeyperson range for the classification is $43.70-$53.52 Hourly,
$83,743.66-$102,560.38 Annually.
