Position Summary
The Base Manager has the responsibility of ensuring the base is performing to and respecting the company standards set out for their base, contractors, and staff within their base. The Base Manager is responsible for ensuring that there is an excellent level of team cooperation between everyone on site and ensuring that all parties have a safe and cooperative experience with NorthStar Air. This position is responsible for all Base Cargo staff.
Key Responsibilities
· Oversee the regular daily operations of the base.
· Communicate operational plan as required to Team Leaders, Supervisors, Ground Crew, Flight Crew, Maintenance, and Contractors.
· Monitor all freight movement to ensure all cargo is moving in an orderly and timely fashion and adjust schedules to suit the requirements.
· Gives direction and delegates tasks to employees and ensures On-Time-Performance is met without the compromise of safety.
· Performs in assistance, the functional tasks of the Cargo Coordinator, Administrator, and Team Leader as required or applicable to help support the base.
· Performing and ensuring correct procedures and compliance with Load-Control functions are performed within company standards.
· Lead and develop all cargo employees.
· Responsible for recruitment, progressive discipline, and termination of employees.
· Complete and review payroll, hiring paperwork, termination paperwork.
· Create a staff schedule and ensure it is posted in a timely manner.
· Responsible for approving and scheduling of vacation and banked time.
· Investigate and prepare disciplinary documents as required.
· Responsible for conducting performance reviews of staff members.
· Responsible for ensuring shifts are covered by utilizing a call-in process.
· Use of the company SMS site to report any deficiencies, incidents, accidents and/or suggestions to enhance the safety of NorthStar Air.
· Responsible for ensuring all staff are provided the appropriate training and are provided with uniforms and personal protective equipment related to their positions.
· Maintain communication with the Director of Ground Operations regarding any site or operational issues.
· Assist in the development of new methods to improve and streamline processes.
· Maintain a working relationship with the local airport authority.
· Respect and maintain the confidentiality of NorthStar Air, Staff, and Customers.
· Responsible for overseeing equipment, property, buildings, and houses have proper maintenance and cleaning through staff, contracts, or occupants.
· Familiarization and keeping up to date with any information in the Ground Operations Manual (GOM) to perform and oversee that proper procedures are known and complied with
· All other duties as assigned.
What We’re Looking For (Qualifications)
· Valid G driver’s license
· High school diploma or equivalent is an asset
· Previous shipping and receiving experience is an asset
· Able to communicate both verbally and in writing
· Computer literacy, including working skills of Excel and e-mail
· Attention to detail in all areas of work.
· Excellent organizational, time management and prioritizing skills

The base salary for this role considers a variety of factors, including candidates' knowledge, skills, experience, education, and requirements for this position. Pay: $73,239.69-$111,561.68 per year
