Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient- centered clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.
Position Overview
Department Led Capital Projects (DLCP), which is administratively housed within Shared Health, delivers major healthcare infrastructure projects across the Province of Manitoba. New projects in the portfolio include: the Victoria Hospital Redevelopment, Park Manor Care Home Personal Care Home Expansion, Arborg Personal Care Home, Lac du Bonnet Personal Care Home, and CancerCare Manitoba new 2nd Building. In addition, DLCP is actively delivering 12 existing projects in Prairie Mountain Health Region, Southern Health Sante-Sud and Interlake Eastern Regional Health Authority for a total of 19 active infrastructure projects at various stages of completion from pre-design to close-out. DLCP is expecting to start 5 additional projects within the next fiscal year.
DLCP requires a Director of Major Capital Projects who will provide oversight and guidance to the Project Delivery team for all Existing and New Projects (except for CCMB 2nd Building). Teams consist of Senior Project Managers, Project Managers, Furniture and Equipment Coordinators and other support staff. The projects in scope for this position are in various stages from pre-design to warranty.
The ideal candidate for this role is positive, professional, collaborative, team-oriented and committed to the organization’s vision, values, goals, and objectives. They will be an effective leader, guiding the project director and their teams, as well as working collaboratively with the DLCP Program Lead to effectively carry out the program mandate. Experience
A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience planning and implementing complex projects within a health services environment.
Proven track record of delivering complex capital projects, including major renovations and new construction, with a portfolio value exceeding $250M.
Deep understanding of construction contract law, CCDC documents, and public tendering practices.
Proficiency in navigating applicable legislation, policies, protocols, and provincial/national guidelines.
Advanced expertise in executive-level reporting, budget control, risk mitigation, and ownership of program quality and delivery milestones.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
Post-secondary degree in relevant disciplines such as architecture, interior design, engineering, health, business, or public administration from a recognized and accredited educational institution.
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Certification/Licensure/Registration
Active member in good standing of an associated regulatory body as appropriate.
Project Management Professional Certification is considered an asset.
Certificate of completion of recognized Canadian Indigenous Cultural Safety training program.

High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Microsoft Project, and Visio.
Exceptional facilitation and negotiation skills with a proven ability to drive consensus among stakeholders with competing priorities.
Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to maintain precision in rapidly changing, high-pressure environments.
Physical Requirements
May be required to work extended hours.
Periodic travel throughout Manitoba may be required
Must have valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle.
