Technical writer

Schedule/Location of Work:

We are currently hiring for Day Shift Position with a consistent, work-life-friendly schedule:
10 Hour Shift - Monday to Thursday
6:00 AM – 4:30 PM
Based at our facility in Rosenort, MB (just 35 minutes south of Winnipeg)

ABOUT K.A. GROUP

The K.A. Group is a global leader in the design, manufacture, and distribution of earthmoving scrapers and accessories for the construction, mining, and agricultural industries. The Group is composed of three brands, namely K-Tec, Ashland, and Metalcraft, with the brands’ products being differentiated by size, target markets, and the technologies offered. Headquartered in Rosenort, Manitoba, just 35 min south of Winnipeg, K.A. Group also maintains a manufacturing warehouse facility in Wisconsin.

About the Role:

The Technical Writer will support production staff by helping to generate and maintain all shop related SOPs. The role will also support production by assisting with the maintenance of all shop floor documentation including drawings.

key duties and responsibilities

Generating and maintaining SOPs for all shop and service-related tasks, including the taking of pictures of work in progress to include in the SOPs
Identifying shop processes that would benefit from having a standardized SOP
Generating and maintaining SOPs for all current and new shop equipment including fixturing
Assist with the maintenance of shop floor documents including SOPs and drawings
Assist with the collection, review, and storage of quality sheets for all production stations
Work with the safety committee to ensure all shop processes comply with current regulations

Assist with the generation, review and maintenance of other technical documentation

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
Strong background and hands-on experience in steel fabrication
Strong technical writing and communication skills in English
Familiarity with ISO 9001:2015 quality management standards
Familiarity with CSA W178.2 welding inspection standards
Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

3+ years experience in a steel fabrication environment
Mechanical Engineering Technologist Diploma preferred or equivalent experience

Must reside in Manitoba
Possess a valid class 5 driver's license and reliable transportation

The final compensation range may vary above or below the posted band based on the candidate’s experience, qualifications, and overall alignment with the role requirements.
