Qualitown Thrift Store – Maple Ridge, BC
Qualitown Thrift Store is looking for a dependable, hardworking Donation Processing & Sorting Associate to join our Maple Ridge team.
This position plays an important role in our thrift store operation. You will receive, sort, inspect and prepare donated merchandise for the sales floor. We are especially interested in applicants who have previous thrift store, donation centre, warehouse sorting, or second-hand retail experience.
Responsibilities
- Receive and sort incoming donations efficiently.
- Sort clothing, shoes, accessories, housewares, toys and other donated merchandise by category.
- Inspect donations for quality, cleanliness and condition.
- Identify items that are suitable for resale and separate items that cannot be sold.
- Prepare merchandise for pricing and placement on the sales floor.
- Hang, fold, organize and process clothing and other merchandise.
- Help maintain an organized and efficient donation processing area.
- Assist with moving donation bags, boxes and merchandise as required.
- Work productively as part of the Qualitown team.
- Follow store procedures and workplace safety standards.
Qualifications
- Previous thrift store or donation-processing experience is strongly preferred.
- Experience sorting clothing and household merchandise is an asset.
- Good understanding of quality and condition when evaluating second-hand merchandise.
- Able to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Reliable, punctual and able to work well with others.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Comfortable standing for extended periods and performing physical tasks associated with receiving and processing donations.
