Compensation: $36,400.00 - $54,600.00 annually

Position Purpose
Citxw Nlaka'pamux Assembly (CNA) was created in 2013 as a powerful and unifying voice for eight Nlaka’pamux Bands regarding the Teck Highland Valley Copper Mine. It is governed by a Board of Directors appointed by the eight Participating Bands. Headquartered in Merritt, BC, with a workforce of over 40, CNA provides training and job readiness along with cultural, social, and technical programming to the over 3035 members of the eight Participating Bands.
The Junior nłeʔképmx Coordinator will assist in the planning and execution of community events and programing for the ʔesknstwexʷ department are eager to learn about the nłeʔkepmx culture and language. The Junior nłeʔképmx Coordinator will support advancing community-based programing, such as events and activities that promote cultural sharing and personal growth.
Primary Duties
- Assist in coordinating and logistics for community events, including workshops, cultural celebrations, and training sessions,
- Support venue selection, setup, and teardown activities to ensure efficient event management,
- Help organize catering, transportation, and accommodations for participants and facilitators,
- Collaborate with team members to develop detailed logistical plans, including roles and timelines,
- Maintain event schedules and communicate important details to all stakeholders,
- Coordinate calendars among various partners to optimize participation,
- Work closely with Communications and Engagement teams to gather and share event information,
- Prepare and distribute informational materials, such as agendas and resource lists,
- Ensure all events comply with local regulations and organizational policies,
- Collect feedback from participants after events to assess logistics effectiveness,
- Support the preparation of post-event summaries and reports,
- Promote environmentally sustainable practices in logistics planning,
- Uphold safety and security measures during event operations,
- Assist with administrative tasks, including document preparation and communication efforts,
- Provide support, guidance and advocacy to group members as needed,
- Communicate and develop strong relationships with community members, elders, and knowledge keepers,
- Develop and expand on the cultural activities for member growth, such as but not limited to hunting, fishing and harvesting,
- Perform administrative functions such as reporting, evaluating, and monitoring programing and initiatives,
- Perform errands as needed, and
- Other ad hoc duties and responsibilities as assigned by the smuɬec nłeʔképmx Coordinator.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Willingness to learn nłeʔkepmx cultural values, language and protocols while recognizing and respecting cultural diversity,
- Organizational skills with a keen attention to detail, capable of managing multiple tasks simultaneously,
- Knowledge of and experience in working with indigenous heritage, language, traditional practices,
- Proficient in Microsoft Office. Ability to navigate virtual meeting software with ease,
- Capable of providing guidance and support to other team members,
- Strong written and verbal communication skills,
- Strong administrative and organizational skills,
- Self-motivated and Independent,
- Able to work autonomously,
- Taking initiative to complete tasks and meet objectives without constant supervision.
- Able to establish and maintain positive relationships with team members, partners, and external collaborators, and
- Willing to adjust work hours to accommodate weekend or afternoon events as needed.
Experience and Requirements
- Strong understanding of Indigenous community concerns and cultural awareness,
- Committed to working in and promoting a culturally diverse and inclusive environment,
- Experience working with diverse teams,
- Willingness to travel for work with a valid BC driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle is an asset,
- Flexibility as required for events outside the standard schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:30am-4:30 pm, with a 1-hour lunch,
- A mandatory Vulnerable Sector Check,
- Physically fit for event set-up and tear-down and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs, and
- Driven to learn and excel in the position.
Work Environment
- Schedule: Monday through Friday between 8:30am and 4:30pm, with a 1-hour unpaid lunch break, fluctuating when needed. On average, 35 hours per week,
- Overtime: All daily overtime over 8 hours will be banked at 1.5x, all hours over 12 will be banked at 2x,
- Reporting Office Location: Office work will be conducted from the ʔesknstwexʷeɬʷ at 2025 Granite Ave, Merritt BC,
- Vacation: 2 weeks paid vacation (10 working days), accrued at 0.84 per month,
- Winter Break: 2 weeks paid (max 10 working days),
- Benefits: 50% benefit premiums paid by employer,
- Pension: Pension matching (percentage increasing with years of service), and
