Summary

We are seeking a Health & Safety Officer to join our team for our Eastern provinces. This pivotal role will help ensure that our projects adhere to the highest safety standards, reflecting our commitment to a safe working environment and excellence in service. The Safety Officer will be based in Barrie Office, contributing significantly to our mission of delivering quality craftsmanship safely.

Responsibilities

Develop, implement, maintain, and continuously improve health and safety policies, programs, and procedures across multiple construction projects.
Deliver engaging safety orientations, and training sessions for employees and subcontractors, including conducting respirator fit testing.
Investigate workplace accidents, incidents, and near misses, identify root causes, and prepare comprehensive reports for WSIB and Head Office while ensuring timely corrective actions are implemented.
Coordinate and manage modified work and return-to-work programs for injured workers in collaboration with supervisors and relevant stakeholders.
Ensure compliance with local health and safety regulations.
Collaborate with project managers to integrate safety measures into daily operations.
Promote a culture of safety awareness among all team members.
Maintain accurate safety documentation and records, using sitedocs.
Organize, facilitate, and document effective Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC) meetings, ensuring legislative compliance and follow-up on committee recommendations.

Qualifications

Proven experience as a Safety Officer or similar role within the construction or contracting industry.
Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations applicable in ON, NL, NB.
Excellent communication and training skills.
Certification in Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) and NCSO or equivalent is preferred.
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
