Position Overview
The Construction Foreman reports directly to the Project Manager and Operations Manager. This role entails regular collaboration with the Lead Hand and other members of the team. Foreman are actively engaged in field operations, overseeing project installations while supervising and working alongside their crews to ensure services are provided efficiently and to the highest standard of detail. Responsibilities include coordinating crew activities, managing tools, equipment, materials, and upholding a workplace culture founded on trust, fairness, and safety. Effective direction and communication are crucial, as is delivering superior client service. The Foreman is also responsible for timely and accurate reporting of work progress to project managers though our LMN software. A commitment to continuous improvement, mentorship, and the professional development of team members is fundamental to this position.
Key Responsibilities
· Leading a crew to install landscape projects per architectural landscape plans.
· Enforce policies, safety, PPE, and equipment care.
· Log team activities daily as required in LMN.
· Communicate tasks with crew, manager, and customers.
· Schedule crew and equipment to meet objectives.
· Train, motivate and reward team for performance.
· Manage resources, load/unload, fuel, tool maintenance reporting.
· Use setup, execution, and closeout checklist for all project steps.
· Keep the yard, shop, inventory, tools, equipment, and vehicles organised and neat to reduce downtime.
· Show dedication to teamwork by continually improving skills and exploring new roles within the organization.
Qualifications
· Excellent communication skills; proficient in English, email and mobile tools.
· Access to an email account.
· 3–5 years’ experience with landscape/construction materials, methods, tools, and equipment.
· Demonstrated team leadership.
· Able to read/interpret drawings and specifications for task execution.
· Have your own reliable vehicle with clean driver’s abstract, valid G Licence; skilled in handling trucks/trailers.
Required Skills
· Skilled in landscape site management and operating equipment, including skid steers, loaders, laser levels, power saws, and excavators.
· Excellent communication skills.
· Experience installing granite five point flagstone, granite stair treads and retaining walls.
· Lead a landscape crew and manage all aspects of projects.
· Experienced with landscape construction materials and methods.
· Organised, proactive planner who keeps projects on schedule.
· Adaptable and eager to learn new skills.
· Safely operate required equipment and effectively train others.
Hours of Work and Work Conditions
· Work is scheduled from March through December, Monday to Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., typically exceeding 40-50 hours per week.
· Use of hand tools, power tools, small engine equipment, heavy machinery, and construction materials is required.
· Work is performed outdoors in varied weather conditions, including heat, humidity, rain, dust, noise, and cold.
Equipment Operation and Tool Competency
Construction Foreman are expected to demonstrate proficiency in the operation of the following equipment and tools:
· Mini and medium size excavators, skid steers and articulating loaders.
· A variety of gas-powered hand tools, including quick cut saws, chain saws, plate tampers, and blowers.
· Surveying instruments such as zip levels, laser transits, and associated grading tools.
· All hand tools related to landscape construction.
Salary and Benefits
· Hourly wage: $40–$50+; overtime after 44 hours.
