The primary responsibilities of this position include:
- Deliver safe and engaging recreation program content to our guests in opportunities including:
- Outdoor Recreation Bookings – eg. Boating, Archery Range, Challenge Course
- Group and Corporate Bookings – eg. Team Building activities
- Wellness Series – Yoga, open water swimming, HIIT
- Events and Occasions (including Mountain Bike/Cyclocross Race Series)
- Assist with the development and implementation of innovative new programs to meet the needs of the community
- Maintain program equipment, supplies, and signage
- Work in accordance with the Conservation Halton’s Safety Policies & Procedures and the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations and all other related manuals
- Other duties as assigned
- Previous experience teaching in an outdoor recreation setting is required
- Possess a keen interest and/or experience in one or more of the following:
- Fitness/Wellness
- Boating
- Team Building
- Archery Range
- Challenge Course
- Summer Camp
- Other recreation-based activity
- CPT (Certified Personal Trainer) Certificate an asset
- Certified Yoga Instructor an asset
- Proven commitment to providing superior customer service
- Strong presentation and communication skills
- Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions, on varied terrain.
- Able to lift up to 40 pounds, stand, and walk for long periods of time
- Able to adapt to the daily challenges associated with a busy outdoor recreation centre
- Able to develop, foster, and sustain effective working relationships within the department and other Conservation Halton staff
- Successful candidates are required to provide a Vulnerable Sector Check (VSS), to verify the absence of a criminal record for which a pardon has not been granted (if over 18 years old). *Cost covered by Conservation Halton up to $30.00.
- CH parks are not accessible by public transit; candidates should ensure they have reliable transportation.
- Starting at $17.90 per hour
- Part time and full-time hours available; hours may vary depending on availability
- This position’s expected start date is May 15, 2026
