Job Description
The Harm Reduction Outreach Worker works under Supervision of the Program Manager and alongside the Harm Reduction Coordinator and Harm Reduction Assistant. The Program Manager oversees the coordination and administration of the agency’s Harm Reduction Program. It is the role of the Harm Reduction team to support the Manager to ensure that clients have access to safer drug use and safer sex equipment for the purposes of reducing the spread of HIV, Hepatitis C, and other sexually transmitted and blood borne infections (STBBI's), and have access to necessary services.
This will include in-office, outreach in Miramichi, Bathurst and Acadian Peninsula, restocking the Healthbox , drug testing, inventory and stocktaking, provide training session/presentations, attend local events and recruit/train and maintain volunteers.
Although this work is hard to predict, the approximate breakdown of work tasks is as follows:
55% Distribution of supplies/one-on-one client education
40% Community outreach, development and engagement
5% Professional development
Requirements:
Community College Diploma in Addictions/ Social/Health Sciences or above. Experience in this field is considered a strong asset regardless of post-secondary education.

● Current First Aid Certificate
Preferred Experience:
- Knowledge of Harm Reduction
- Knowledge of HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis C, and other STBBIs
- Familiarity with issues around addictions and/or people who use drugs
- Experience in the non-profit sector
- Outreach experience
- Bi-lingual, French and English
