The Role

MTLI Group is seeking a high-performance Director of Operations — Canada to lead and scale all Canadian operations across multiple divisions.

This role is built for an operator who thrives in fast-paced environments and knows how to turn operational complexity into structured execution.

You will take ownership of:

Project execution
Operational performance
PM leadership
Field execution
Staffing coordination
Profitability
Standardization across Canada

This is not a corporate desk role.

We are looking for a builder, leader, and operator who understands how to manage people, projects, systems, and field execution at scale.

Core Responsibilities1. Operational Leadership & Execution

Lead all Canadian operations across multiple divisions
Oversee Project Managers, Supervisors, Coordinators, Dispatch, and field teams
Ensure projects are executed safely, profitably, and on schedule
Drive accountability across all levels of operations
Support successful execution of simultaneous multi-site projects

2. Project Performance & Profitability

Own operational performance and project delivery across Canada
Monitor:
Gross margins
Labor productivity
Schedule adherence
Budget performance
Change orders
Customer satisfaction
Identify and eliminate operational inefficiencies and margin leakage

3. Systems & Standardization

Help implement scalable operational systems and SOPs
Standardize:
Daily reporting
QA/QC procedures
Dispatch processes
Crew planning
Project workflows
Safety compliance
Support development and rollout of MTLI’s internal ERP systems and operational dashboards

4. Team Leadership & Development

Build and mentor high-performing operational teams
Develop:
Project Managers
Coordinators
Site leadership
Supervisors
Create clear accountability structures and performance expectations
Help build scalable leadership depth across Canada

5. Multi-Division Coordination

Support execution across:

Racking & Automation
Construction
Industrial Relocations & Decommissioning
Installation & Maintenance Services

Create operational alignment between divisions while maintaining execution quality and profitability.

6. Client & Site Leadership

Participate in key customer meetings and escalations
Maintain strong client relationships during project execution
Travel to major project sites across Canada as required
Ensure customer expectations are exceeded consistently

Operational structure becomes significantly more organized
PMs and supervisors operate with stronger accountability
Reporting and visibility improve across all active projects
Project profitability becomes more measurable and controlled
Reduced delays, rework, and operational inefficiencies
Stronger labor planning and staffing coordination
CEO involvement in day-to-day operational firefighting reduced substantially
Canadian operations positioned to scale significantly without operational breakdowns

Ideal Candidate ProfileExperience

10–20+ years of operational leadership experience
Managed large-scale multi-site operations
Background in one or more of:
Industrial services
Construction
Material handling / automation
Warehousing / logistics
General contracting
Experience leading large field teams and Project Managers
Strong understanding of operational scaling and field execution

Preferred experience from companies such as:

Amazon
Dematic
Daifuku
Fortna
Large industrial contractors
Large-scale logistics or infrastructure operators

Skill Set

Strong operational leadership capabilities
Deep understanding of field execution and labor productivity
Experience managing complex project portfolios
Strong financial and P&L awareness
Ability to build systems and scalable operational processes
Experience implementing or improving ERP/workflow systems
