Student Dietary Aide

We're looking for motivated high school students to join our team. This position is ideal for students seeking their first work experience while balancing school commitments. Responsibilities:
- Must be available to work a minimum of 9 hours/week.
· Ability to read, write and speak English, and follow oral and written direction.
· Providing accurate and efficient meal service in the dining room.
· Placing client's meal selections with the cook.
· Serve meals in an accurate and efficient manner, in a warm and positive atmosphere.
· Collecting soiled dishes and resets dining room for meals.
· Washing pots, pans and equipment in compliance with safety and sanitary requirements.
· Maintaining the neat appearance of work areas to ensure the careful and sanitary handling of food, dishes and equipment.
· Sanitizing all work areas by sweeping and mopping floors; cleaning garbage cans and waster barrels; washing worktables, wall and refrigerators
· Ensuring correct storage and rotation of foods and other supplies using FIFO
· Able to learn and apply new information.
· Able to work with behaviours and/or disabilities attached to an aging population (i.e. dementia, Alzheimer’s, mental health, hearing and visual impairments, etc.).
· Able to perform many types of physical activity – bending, lifting, stretching, pushing, pulling, none of which are required to be done continuously or for prolonged periods.
· Able to perform varied physical work throughout the shift and on an ongoing basis; lifting floor to wait no more than 23 kg (51 lb), assisted; lifting from waist to shoulder no more than 7 kg (15 lb); carrying no more than 7 kg (15 lb). Bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, and twisting as required in carrying out a variety of personal assistance activities.
· Must be courteous and able to work unsupervised. Must be able to work as a team member and with the elderly.
· Other duties as assigned.
Initial Assignment: Evenings, weekends and holiday hours.
Rate of Pay: $16.60-$19.60 Direct Care; $16.60 Indirect Care per hour
