Esposito Bros. Construction Ltd. is a long-standing heavy civil contractor based in Bolton, Ontario. Since 1981, we have delivered municipal and public infrastructure projects across the GTA and surrounding areas, including bridges, culverts, retaining walls, roads, sewers, watermains, and structural concrete works.
We are currently seeking reliable and hardworking Skilled and General Labourers to join our construction crews. The successful candidates will support daily site operations on civil infrastructure projects and assist with a wide range of construction activities, including excavation support, concrete work, formwork, sewer and watermain installation, asphalt work, site preparation, demolition, cleanup, and general labour duties.

Position Summary
The Skilled and General Labourer will be responsible for assisting field crews, foremen, operators, and superintendents with the safe and efficient completion of construction work on active project sites.
The ideal candidate is dependable, physically fit, safety-conscious, and able to work well as part of a crew. Skilled labourers should have hands-on experience in civil infrastructure construction, including concrete forming, rebar, pipe work, grading, asphalt, demolition, and the safe use of hand tools, power tools, and small equipment.
Key Responsibilities
General Site Operations
- Load, unload, move, and organize construction materials, tools, and equipment.
- Clean and prepare construction sites, work areas, access routes, and staging areas.
- Remove rubble, debris, waste material, and salvaged materials from construction sites.
- Assist with excavation, trenching, backfilling, grading, compacting, and general earthworks.
- Level earth, granular material, concrete, and asphalt to required grades and elevations.
- Assist operators, foremen, carpenters, pipe layers, concrete finishers, and other crew members as required.
- Set up, maintain, and dismantle temporary site protection, fencing, barricades, signage, ramps, walkways, and access routes.
- Direct traffic or assist with traffic control at or near construction sites when required.
- Travel to project sites throughout the GTA and Ontario as required.
Civil Infrastructure Work
- Assist with sewer, watermain, storm sewer, and drainage installation.
- Assist with pipe bedding, pipe placement, trench preparation, and backfill operations.
- Assist with bridge, culvert, retaining wall, road, sidewalk, curb, and structural concrete work.
- Assist with forming, stripping, placing, vibrating, finishing, curing, and protecting concrete.
- Assist with rebar handling, tying, placement, and support.
- Assist with demolition of concrete structures, asphalt, sidewalks, curbs, walls, slabs, and other infrastructure elements.
- Assist with asphalt placement, raking, grading, compaction, and cleanup.
- Assist with restoration work, including grading, topsoil, sod, landscaping, tree planting, and general site finishing.
Tools, Equipment & Materials
- Safely operate and maintain hand tools, power tools, and small construction equipment.
- Use tools and equipment such as concrete vibrators, screeds, power floats, reciprocating saws, circular saws, concrete saws, grinders, chippers, jackhammers, air compressors, nail guns, drills, augers, compactors, jumping jacks, chainsaws, sledgehammers, and other site tools.
- Assist with the safe use of small equipment such as skid steers, compactors, pumps, generators, and other construction equipment where qualified and authorized.
- Inspect tools and equipment before use and report defects, damage, or unsafe conditions.
- Keep tools, equipment, and work areas clean, organized, and safe.
Health & Safety
- Follow Esposito Bros. Construction Ltd.’s Health & Safety Program and all applicable OHSA requirements.
- Wear and maintain required personal protective equipment.
- Participate in toolbox talks, Job Hazard Analyses, safety meetings, and site orientations.
- Follow safe work procedures for excavations, traffic, lifting, concrete work, tools, equipment, fall hazards, confined spaces, and active construction sites.
- Report hazards, incidents, near misses, unsafe conditions, and damaged equipment immediately.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area at all times.
- Work safely around heavy equipment, traffic, open excavations, watercourses, overhead hazards, and other site risks.
Teamwork & Productivity
- Listen to and follow directions from foremen, lead hands, operators, and supervisors.
- Work effectively as part of a crew in a fast-paced construction environment.
- Complete assigned tasks safely, efficiently, and to company standards.
- Support crew productivity by being prepared, punctual, reliable, and accountable.
- Use experience and judgment to complete tasks within the scope of the role.
- Maintain a positive attitude and professional conduct on site.
Required Qualifications
- Previous experience in construction, civil infrastructure, heavy civil, roadwork, sewer and watermain, bridge, concrete, asphalt, or excavation work is preferred.
- Experience must be related to civil infrastructure construction projects in Ontario.
- Valid driver’s licence required.
- Must currently reside in Ontario and be legally authorized to work in Canada.
- Ability to reliably commute to project sites throughout the GTA and Ontario.
- Physically fit and able to perform manual labour on a daily basis.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in physically demanding site conditions.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Ability to follow instructions and complete tasks safely and efficiently.
- Strong work ethic, reliability, punctuality, and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and under direct supervision.
- Ability to work with small crews and larger project teams.
- Willingness to work overtime, weekends, nights, or shift work when required by project schedules.
Preferred Qualifications
- 3 years of construction experience preferred.
- Experience in sewer and watermain construction, roadwork, bridge work, culverts, structural concrete, asphalt, grading, restoration, or municipal infrastructure.
- Experience with concrete forming, concrete finishing, rebar tying, pipe installation, trench work, compaction, demolition, and site restoration.
- Experience working on municipal or MTO-related projects considered an asset.
- Experience using hand tools, power tools, compactors, saws, jackhammers, pumps, generators, and small construction equipment.
- Safety certifications considered an asset, including:
- WHMIS
- Working at Heights
- First Aid / CPR
- Confined Space Awareness
- Traffic Control / Book 7
- Basics of Supervision
- Hoisting and Rigging Awareness

Work Conditions
- Work is performed primarily on active construction sites.
- Projects may be located throughout the GTA and other areas of Ontario.
- The role may require early mornings, overtime, weekend work, night work, and occasional travel depending on project requirements.
- Work may involve exposure to traffic, heavy equipment, noise, dust, mud, water, weather, heights, excavations, confined spaces, and physically demanding site conditions.
- Candidates must be comfortable working outdoors and performing manual labour in a construction environment.
Schedule
- 10-hour shifts may be required.
- Day shift.
- Monday to Friday.
- Weekends as needed.
- Overtime as needed.
- Night shifts may be required depending on project requirements.
