Job Details:
Position Title: Health Promotion Coordinator
Status: FT Support
Hours: 35 hours per week
Faculty/Department: Student Wellness and Equitable Learning (SWEL) – Health Promotion Unit
Campus/Location: North Campus (4 days a week) and Lakeshore Campus (1 day a week), 9am to 5pm. Completely in-person with occasional evenings and weekends in alignment with departmental obligations (e.g. Open House) and operational hours 8:30am to 6:30pm. Option to work a compressed work week (4 days per week, 8:30am to 6:30pm).
Salary: Payband: H Salary Range: $37.34 - $43.18
Starting Salary: $37.34; Progression through the payband is in accordance with the increments in the payband as outline in the Full-Time Support Staff Collective Agreement based on actual service in the payband.
About SWEL at Humber:
The Student Wellness and Equitable Learning (SWEL) department is dedicated to fostering a supportive and inclusive environment where every student can thrive. The cross-functional team includes Student Connection and Community Care, Residence Life and Education, Accessible Learning Services, Mental Health and Counselling, Health Services and Health Promotion. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to join the Health Promotion team to lead upstream efforts in prevention and early intervention, building institutional capacity and empowering learners with skills to make informed decisions about their health and well-being.
About the Health Promotion Coordinator Role:
Reporting to the Manager, Health Promotion, the Health Promotion Coordinator is a collaborative educator that delivers and evaluates educational workshops and outreach events in support of student mental health and well-being. The incumbent will be responsible for the following activities:
- Coordinates and facilitates evidence-informed wellness initiatives, workshops, and outreach aligned with Humber’s Well-being Strategy.
- Collaborates with the team to identify student needs and implement initiatives that address topics such as mental health, sexual health, substance use, sleep, and social connectedness.
- Facilitates educational training for students and employees (e.g., Recognize, Respond and Support Learners in Distress, Bringing in the Bystander). Provides logistical and functional support to ensure all programming reflects trauma-informed, culturally safe, and anti-oppressive principles.
- Coordinates health promotion outreach activities (e.g., Orientation, Service Fairs, Open House), including identifying SWEL representatives, selecting appropriate incentives and materials, designing interactive education activities, and developing evaluation strategies to measure impact.
- Identifies suitable on-campus locations for outreach and engagement activities.
- Assists with managing health promotion inventory within budget, ensuring supplies and materials remain organized, stocked, and aligned with program needs.
- Facilitates divisional initiatives (e.g., Take Back the Night, Humber Let’s Talk) and collaborates with SWEL teams and external partners. Participates in committees and task groups that advance health promotion priorities
- Collects, organizes and analyzes service user data to identify areas for improvement and enhance quality of health promotion initiatives

Education
Successful completion of a 3-year diploma/degree or equivalent from an academic discipline that is relevant to the role (e.g., education, psychology, public health, health promotion, social work etc.).
Experience/Skills

Minimum 2 years of experience in coordinating or delivering health promotion, wellness, or student engagement programs in a post-secondary, public health, or community environment.

Workshop facilitation and event coordination.

Program planning, implementation, and evaluation.

Applying health promotion and student development theories in practice.

Communicating through digital, social, and traditional media.

Building partnerships with campus and community stakeholders.

Demonstrated ability to build collaborative relationships with students.

Knowledge of the Okanagan Charter, Stepped Care 2.0, and the National Standard of Canada for Mental Health and Well-being for Postsecondary Students is considered an asset.

Certification in safeTALK, ASIST, Bystander Intervention Training is considered an asset.
