We are currently seeking an experienced and dynamic General Manager for the Radisson Hotel Montréal Airport in Montréal, Québec.
The Radisson Hotel Montréal Airport is a full-service hotel operating under the Choice Hotels International brand. The property features 258 guest rooms, 16,700 square feet of flexible meeting and event space, Le Restaurant Le Tropik offering Canadian-inspired dining, a lounge bar, and a hotel-operated shuttle service supporting both the Radisson Hotel Montréal Airport and its sister property. Operating within a unionized environment, the hotel requires a leader who can balance exceptional guest service, operational excellence, strong financial performance, and positive labour relations.
Position Profile
The General Manager is responsible for all aspects of hotel operations by leading, coaching, and mentoring hotel employees, supervisors, and managers while ensuring the maximization of revenues, market share, NOI, GSI, and ESS. The successful candidate will foster a strong service culture and entrepreneurial spirit while demonstrating the values and vision of Atlific Hotels and upholding Choice Hotels brand standards.
Interested candidates are required to have full-service hotel experience and demonstrated success in the following key performance areas:
Operations
- Effectively implements hotel, Choice Hotels, and Atlific standards, including property condition, cleanliness, and quality of product and service.
- Ensures Standard Operating Procedures are developed, reviewed, and consistently followed.
- Participates in the sales process by helping establish sales strategies, building strong customer relationships, conducting hotel tours, and participating in customer meetings and industry events.
- Provides proactive leadership to Operations, Housekeeping, Human Resources, Food & Beverage, Front Office, Sales, Shuttle Operations, and Engineering departments to maximize financial performance and guest satisfaction.
- Oversees the successful operation of Le Restaurant Le Tropik, the lounge bar, banquet operations, and conference services while ensuring exceptional guest experiences and strong financial results.
- Ensures compliance with all Choice Hotels brand standards, quality assurance programs, and guest satisfaction initiatives.
- Works closely with the Atlific Revenue Management team to develop and execute revenue strategies that support market positioning, maximize total revenue, and grow market share.
- Oversees the safe, efficient, and guest-focused operation of the hotel's shuttle service, ensuring reliable transportation for guests of both the Radisson Hotel Montréal Airport and its sister hotel.
- Maintains strong relationships with airport, corporate, group, airline, and travel industry partners.
Financial
- Manages the operational budget (within approved limits) and directs the annual strategic planning process, operating budget, marketing plans, and capital expenditure programs.
- Maximizes NOI through effective execution of sales and marketing initiatives, sound financial management practices, exceptional customer service, and disciplined cost controls.
- Oversees and coordinates capital improvement projects to maintain quality standards, enhance guest experience, and protect the hotel's assets.
- Reviews financial performance regularly and implements corrective action plans where necessary to achieve budgeted results.
- Drives revenue growth across all business segments, including guestrooms, food and beverage, meetings and events, and ancillary services.
Human Resources and Development
- Creates and sustains a strong service culture throughout the hotel while maximizing guest satisfaction scores.
- Maintains positive and productive labour relations within a unionized workplace environment.
- Conducts regular performance management reviews and development planning for hotel leaders and associates.
- Recruits, develops, and supervises department leaders to ensure efficient and effective operation of their respective departments.
- Maximizes employee engagement through strong leadership, fair and consistent HR practices, communication, recognition, and development opportunities.
- Participates in applicable corporate training and leadership development programs.
Leadership, Supervision and Support
- Participates in community affairs, industry associations, and local events while maintaining a positive public image for the hotel and Atlific Hotels.
- Identifies and implements operational synergies between the hotel and sister properties where appropriate.
- Serves as a strong, visible, and decisive leader and role model for all associates.
- Leverages relationships and resources with ownership, corporate leadership, Choice Hotels, and industry partners.
- Encourages open communication and fosters an environment of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
- Ensures appropriate leadership coverage during staffing shortages, emergency situations, and vacations.
- Oversees the implementation of corporate initiatives and strategic objectives.
Risk Management
- Ensures the health, safety, and security of all guests and employees.
- Maintains and regularly reviews the hotel's emergency response plans and life safety procedures.
- Ensures compliance with all municipal, provincial, federal, labour, and brand-related regulations and standards.
- Oversees workplace health and safety programs and supports a culture of safety throughout the organization.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Hotel Administration, Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or a related field preferred. Certified Hotel Administrator (CHA) designation is considered an asset.
- Minimum five (5) years of General Manager experience in a full-service hotel environment.
- Must be fully bi-lingual (English and French)
- Experience managing a recognized hotel brand is required; Choice Hotels experience is considered an asset.
- Experience leading hotels with significant food and beverage, banquet, and conference operations is strongly preferred.
- Experience operating within a unionized environment and managing labour relations is strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated leadership, coaching, and team development skills.
- Strong financial acumen, including budgeting, forecasting, and business planning.
- Proven ability to identify priorities, plan strategically, organize effectively, and delegate appropriately.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills.
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and hotel management systems.
