Commercial Lines Account Manager
On behalf of our client, Wedgwood Insurance, ethree Consulting is recruiting for a Commercial Lines Account Manager to join their fantastic team.
At Wedgwood Insurance, our core values of We Care, We Lead, We Improve, and_ We Deliver_ are reflected in everything we do. It’s how we’ve become the most trusted insurance broker in Newfoundland & Labrador and have been part of our foundation for over 47 years. We invest in our team by promoting personal and professional development, providing amazing benefits, and fostering a culture of respect and pride in our work. And it shows as we’ve been named one of the Best Places to Work in Atlantic Canada multiple years by Atlantic Business Magazine and the St. John’s Board of Trade Business of the Year in 2024, underscoring our team’s dedication to delivering exceptional service.
The Opportunity:
You will be managing a portfolio of larger, more complex commercial accounts — the kind of work that requires judgment, not just process. You will be part of a team that is growing and evolving, and your work will help shape the commercial lines department going forward. While our team is based in Newfoundland, we welcome applications from qualified candidates outside the province and offer remote work arrangements.
As a Commercial Lines Account Manager, you will:
- Manage the full renewal cycle for your accounts — pre-renewal strategy, market submissions, coverage recommendations, and client presentations
- Advise clients on their exposures, coverage gaps, and risk management options
- Provide an exceptional client experience by responding to client inquiries and requests with speed and quality
- Identify opportunities to round accounts, cross-sell, and ensure clients are fully protected across their exposures
- Stay ahead of market changes and proactively contact clients when their coverage environment is shifting
- Work with underwriters to negotiate terms that genuinely serve your clients
- Support clients through claims; reporting, advocacy, and post-claims management
- Ensure accuracy and integrity of documentation and up-to-date underwriting information in Applied Epic
As our Ideal Candidate:
- You fit with Wedgwood’s four core values (We Care, We Lead, We Improve, and We Deliver)
- You have solid technical commercial lines experience and are excited to manage more interesting, established complex accounts
- You are business focused and love to learn what makes a business tick and provide solid advice on risk and insurance issues
- You have strong client relationship skills, building trust by knowing your accounts, not just managing them
- You are action-oriented with strong negotiating skills, advocating for your clients with underwriters to ensure positive outcomes
- You have attention to detail, ensuring accuracy in your accounts, you like catching things before they become problems
- You have strong verbal and written communication skills, explaining complex coverage issues clearly to clients who are not insurance professionals
- You want to feel like part of a team, not just an employee - our people genuinely enjoy working together
- You are adaptable, understanding the big picture when new processes or technologies are introduced.
Your Qualifications:
- University degree or college diploma in Business or a relevant discipline, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- NL P&C Level 1 licence required; Level 2 or 3 preferred
- CAIB designation completed or actively in progress
- 3–5+ years of commercial lines P&C experience with complex accounts
- Experience with mid-market or larger commercial accounts preferred, but willing to consider those with mid-market experience and readiness to step into managing an established book of complex accounts
- proficiency in Microsoft 365, including Excel
- Applied Epic proficiency, or willingness and ability to learn new software quickly
Our Work Environment:
- We value hard work and commitment. We look for people who want a long-term career with the potential for upward mobility
- We work in a team environment, with an Account Administrator and an Account Executive working together with you to determine risk and add value upon renewals
- We offer a flexible work environment with the ability to work remotely, upon completion of training and probationary period, although our team thrives when collaborating in the office
- We are a professional and friendly office that strives to create an extremely comfortable atmosphere;
- Our working hours are 8:30 am to 4:30 pm Monday to Friday
What we offer:
- Competitive compensation, starting at $75,000, commensurate with experience
