GS Hospitality Group is seeking an experienced and driven Sales & Events Manager to help grow our portfolio of hospitality businesses across Western Canada.
With 7 hotels, restaurants, banquet and event facilities, a brewery, and other hospitality-related assets, GS Hospitality Group is a growing company focused on delivering exceptional guest experiences while building strong relationships within the communities we serve.
We are looking for a highly motivated sales professional with a proven background in hotel sales who can generate room night production, secure group business, drive event bookings, and create long-term partnerships that support occupancy and revenue growth across our properties.
This position is based out of our Nanaimo, BC office and will require periodic travel throughout Vancouver Island, Alberta, and Saskatchewan.
Key Responsibilities
Hotel Sales & Business Development
- Drive hotel occupancy through proactive sales efforts and strategic business development.
- Develop and maintain corporate accounts for business travel, project crews, government agencies, and long-term accommodations.
- Secure room blocks for sports teams, tournaments, weddings, conferences, reunions, and tour groups.
- Negotiate preferred rate agreements with corporate clients and organizations.
- Build relationships with local businesses, industrial companies, construction firms, healthcare organizations, educational institutions, and government agencies.
- Identify and pursue opportunities with travel agents, tour operators, and event planners.
- Conduct sales calls, networking meetings, presentations, and hotel site tours.
- Develop strategies to increase occupancy during slower periods and shoulder seasons.
- Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and emerging business opportunities.
- Maintain an active sales pipeline and consistently convert leads into confirmed business.
- Meet and exceed occupancy, room revenue, and group sales targets.
Events, Banquets & Food & Beverage Sales
- Promote banquet facilities, meeting rooms, restaurants, private dining spaces, and catering services throughout the company portfolio.
- Generate bookings for corporate meetings, fundraisers, weddings, celebrations, training events, and community gatherings.
- Build partnerships with local organizations, charities, sports groups, schools, and business associations.
- Prepare proposals, contracts, event orders, and client presentations.
- Collaborate with operations teams to ensure successful event execution and guest satisfaction.
- Develop creative sales initiatives to increase food and beverage revenue across multiple properties.
Relationship Management & Community Engagement
- Serve as a brand ambassador for GS Hospitality Group.
- Attend trade shows, tourism events, chamber functions, industry conferences, and networking opportunities.
- Foster strong client relationships to generate repeat business and referrals.
- Work closely with hotel and restaurant management teams to identify new revenue opportunities.
- Assist with sales campaigns, promotional initiatives, and strategic partnerships.
- Maintain accurate records, reports, forecasts, and sales activity within company systems.
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of hotel sales experience required.
- Proven success in generating hotel room revenue, group bookings, and corporate accounts.
- Experience selling meetings, events, banquet facilities, or hospitality services is considered a strong asset.
- Strong communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
- Demonstrated ability to develop new business and maintain long-term client relationships.
- Highly organized, self-motivated, and results-oriented.
- Ability to travel regularly throughout Vancouver Island, Alberta, and Saskatchewan.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and CRM systems.
- Preffered knowledge of OPERA and Synxis.
- No support for LMIA currently offered.
