We are seeking an experienced and passionate Centre Manager / Early Childhood Educator (ECE) to lead our licensed childcare centre in Nanaimo, BC (3255 Stephenson Point Road). This full-time leadership position is responsible for the overall operation of the childcare centre, including staff leadership, licensing compliance, family relations, program quality, and day-to-day centre management.
This role is ideal for an experienced ECE who combines strong leadership skills with a genuine passion for early learning and child development. Key ResponsibilitiesCentre Leadership & Operations
- Oversee the daily operation of the childcare centre, ensuring smooth and efficient program delivery
- Lead, mentor, and support educators, assistants, and support staff
- Foster a positive, professional, and collaborative team culture
- Assist with staff recruitment, onboarding, scheduling, performance management, and ongoing professional development
- Maintain staffing levels that meet licensing and operational requirements
- Manage classroom coverage and staff scheduling in both our 3-5 classrooms and school aged
Licensing & Compliance
- Ensure ongoing compliance with all BC Child Care Licensing Regulations, policies, and standards
- Maintain required licensing records, documentation, and centre files
- Prepare for and participate in licensing inspections and audits
- Ensure health, safety, emergency preparedness, and risk management procedures are implemented and followed
- Monitor and maintain compliance with WorkSafeBC requirements and company policies
Program Quality & Curriculum
- Oversee curriculum planning and implementation across all classrooms
- Support educators in developing engaging, inclusive, and age-appropriate learning experiences
- Ensure environments reflect best practices in early childhood education
- Promote positive guidance strategies and child-centred programming
- Monitor program quality and continuous improvement initiatives
Family & Community Relations
- Build strong, positive relationships with families
- Address parent inquiries, concerns, and feedback professionally and effectively
- Facilitate family communication and engagement
- Support child transitions, assessments, and developmental discussions as required
- Represent the centre professionally within the community
Administration
- Assist with tours, and family onboarding
- Support supply ordering, and inventory management
- Ensure accurate record keeping and reporting requirements are met
- Collaborate with ownership and senior management on operational planning and centre goals

- Previous childcare management, supervisory, or leadership experience strongly preferred
- Thorough knowledge of BC Child Care Licensing Regulations
- Strong leadership, organizational, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Professional, reliable, and confident working independently
- Proficient with basic computer applications and administrative tasks
- Reliable transportation
- Ability to provide all required documentation prior to employment, including:
- Criminal Record Check Clearance
- References
- Valid ECE Certificate
- First Aid Certification

Schedule: Monday–Friday, between 7:30 am – 5:30 pm
Location: In Space Childcare Inc., 3255 Stephenson Point Road, Nanaimo, BC
