Nu Edge Construction is seeking driven, team-oriented individuals with a willingness to expand their knowledge of the industry.
We are recruiting for a qualified individual to step in as Earthworks Foreman. Must have experience with Civil Construction, heavy equipment operations and must be familiar and comfortable with earth moving, running large scale crews, operating safely in a variety of environments and complying with all applicable legislation.
Specific Duties:
Coordinate daily activities on construction sites to ensure quality and efficient operations, plan ahead to ensure required materials are on site, inform superintendent if not and allow time for delivery.
Instruct crew on activities and follow up to ensure compliance
Inform Management Team of work activities, issues, workflow and employee issues
Keep a detailed record of daily events, communications, weather, delays, ground conditions, etc. in journal/day timer
Complete timekeeping records daily and that all relevant information is included
Ensure completed work meets the required specifications
Ensure work is performed within Alberta OH&S guidelines and Nu Edge safety policies and procedures
Ensure company safety policies are met by all workers, including Job Hazard Assessment, Risk Assessment, Toolbox meetings and communication of Safety Memos and that all incidents are reported (near misses, property damage, injuries, environmental, etc.) before the end of the shift.
Maintain a clean and organized work environment, ensure construction tools and equipment are properly maintained, kept track of and put away in a designated storage location when not in use.
Recognize existing and potential hazards and knows how to identify these through conducting a field-level pre-job hazard analysis, checking the machine for hazards, and assessing any tasks before starting.
Experience/Qualifications:
Must have 3-5 years experience as a Foreman working on Civil Earthworks Projects
Knowledge of construction techniques and safety practices
General survey knowledge
The ability to read and understand blueprints and specifications
Self-leadership, supervisory, interpersonal skills
Attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Ensure compliance with all Company policies, OH & S Legislation, and WCB reporting procedures.
Understand and maintain quality and production standards and work to achieve established production goals.
