The Ottawa office has an opening for a full-time Geotechnical Field Technician/Inspector. We are looking for the best and the brightest candidate to fill this role; the reward is a competitive salary (reviewed annually) and benefits package. The ideal candidate for this dynamic and challenging role should be capable of the following:
- Supervise geotechnical/environmental drilling projects.
- Conduct settlement surveys.
- Conducting groundwater measuring/sampling programs and site surveying.
- Prepare grading plan memos and other technical memorandums for project managers.
- Develop solutions with senior personnel when potential problems arise on site.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of client relationships.
- Ability to practice proper safety procedures while conducting field work.
Qualifications
- University or College degree in related field of study (Civil/Geotechnical Engineering).
- 1-2 years of relevant experience in geotechnical or civil engineering, preferably obtained in a consulting engineering environment.
- Proven ability to manage competing priorities and balance short- and long-term tasks in a fast-paced environment;
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English; bilingualism (French) is an asset;
- Highly motivated, detail-oriented, and a collaborative team player;
- Able to work both independently and as part of a team;
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with clients and colleagues;
- Exceptional organizational and written communication skills;
- Comfortable working in a dynamic, deadline-driven environment;
- Must reside in the Ottawa–Gatineau area;
- Must be legally authorized to work in Canada.
Physical Requirements
Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather. Ability to lift and move items and equipment up to 50 lbs. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
